Elite status hotel shop

So, did these move to a new company? And now you can't keep the upgrade or the points? Even with a fee, that's a serious downgrade.

IS that so? Where'd they go? I haven't been following it now that I get status naturally thanks to my wife.

Yeah I actually qualified for top tier this year (Thanks Double Elite Night Credit promo!) so I haven't been looking for them. They're great to get status, but not worth it if you already have status. Especially the ones with the airport shuttle.

Well, now you don’t get to keep status or the points. I’m only doing one and not even in my home city because I need a stopover hotel.
Interesting. If you don't mind revealing, where did you see these shops show up? I completed one of these literally last week, unless I got in on the last round of this project with the MSC....

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
Yuk! Not keeping the status sucks, since it was the main draw for that shop.

I have been basically living out of hotels the past few weeks and having the late check-out that comes with the status is key for productivity, or I end up having a 3-4 hour window each day with no hotel room to work out of...

Uhhh, when did they start taking back points? And long do you get to keep your status? Currently at Platinum level. Should I be concerned.

Apologies, @bgriffin - thought I quoted @shopsuey.
The new msc's elite shops were self assigned and they were snatched up five minutes after the email notification (except for one in Seattle). I was not allowed to keep the points from the original msc for the last shop I did a few months back.

Yes - I saw that too but I already have Platinum so didn't look at it closely before deleting. Can you confirm that this new company you don't keep the status or the points? I have kept points from the original MSC, but I think that is property dependent.
It's explicitly stated that you will not receive any points for the assignment and that the status upgrade is temporary.

Is that visible before you accept the shop (I admit I scanned it quickly and it could very well have been there and I missed it before deleting it) or is it only stated in the instructions after you accept the shop? Thanks.
Does it say HOW temporary? Because he's always been "temporary."
Who has these now?

Who is the new MSC? I have not heard anything about this, is the shop just as easy?
I see they have more posted now (the new company) so I read it a little more carefully. I do not see where it says you don't keep the points, but I DO see where it says that "your status will be upgraded or downgraded temporarily" and then goes on to say that it will be returned to the former status after you complete the shop. YIKES - that makes it total 10 foot pole for those who actually have a higher level status than what is being tested... no way in heck would I let someone downgrade me and "hope" that it gets returned to the former level afterwards!
Ain't nobody touching my top tier status!

I easily found the company. Good company. Modest fee but better than none like the old MSC. I wonder if they would really go through with the trouble of downgrading your status, seems like a hassle. Hopefully they forget to do it. Imagine all the work if you end up doing multiple shops throughout the year.
I think the worse part, is no two nights in a row. Doesn't make sense now to drive a distance if it's just one night.
It was never two nights. You made the reservation for two nights in order to check a certain housekeeping procedure, but always checked out before the regular check out time for the first (and only) night.

So one is going to mention the new company? Lol
No, since the client is obvious, nobody is going to break the rules and name the MSC.
"Elite Status" is pretty generic. Lots of travel websites that offer tips for upgrading your status talk about "Elite status". I think the reason that people aren't mentioning the MSC is that even if the job seems less appealing now, it may become more desirable in the future. And dedicated shoppers who do a little digging on their own can likely find it for themselves.

I don't know. It's a relatively obscure MSC in my opinion.

Wow!...perhaps cut down to half a cup @eyelove2shop

I think there's an overall rule for the forum that out goal is not to advertise "who shops who". Asking for the information on the technicality that the MSC was not named is disrespectful to the forum members IMHO.

The goal of forum participation is to help others become better shoppers. It's been well established that signing up with all available MSC's is the best way to find out who has particular shops.
While it's obvious to a lot of people who we're talking about, I agree that the client hasn't actually been mentioned. Now,. If I mentioned that I'm titanium in this brand, then the client has been mentioned because there's only one hotel brand that uses titanium as their top-tier elite status.
