Clearly some of the people writing the guidelines have never done any mystery shopping. You do what it takes to get the report done. Some people take notes, other put the guidelines on their phone. Nothing wrong with that. It gets the job done. I think some of these guidelines cross the point of treating you more like an employee, than an Independent Contractor.

Can squirrels get diabetes? I guess the fries could definitely shorten their lifespan. Especially if it slows them down so they can't get away from their predators.

Some people on here take the fun away from mystery shopping. You're scaring the new people with your threats of being taken to court if they don't follow the guidelines or loss of work if they make a mistake. No one has ever been taken to court for mystery shopping. Lighten up, please.

LOADED BAKED POTATOES
2 large potatoes
4 oz cream cheese
4 slices bacon crumbled

That's the way I shop. I look to get the job done for the best pay. I'm an Independent Contractor, not an employee.
So far in this thread I have identified buzzkills, critter killers, name callers, clever folk who type in couched terms (needlessly, as it turns out), and pots calling kettles black. [Elsewhere, I was told-- after I had abandoned a thread, mind you-- that I continued to debate there for the sake of debate. The person who told me this announced to ladymacleod that they would continue to do that in this thread.]

Heard on the radio today that 50% of the world's pigs are raised in China, and there is some sort of disease that has traveled from Europe, into Africa and now into Asia, and is infecting and killing the pigs! My squirrel problem exists in that one fuzzy batard likes to hide his nuts in my plants. Once when I had the loveliest avocado tree sprouting, he mistook my pit for a seed and I could have strangled him, but there's not a lot of good places to hide nuts on an island.

Johnb - I understand about some shops having challenging guidelines. If they are so challenging where I can not follow rules, I don't accept it. Being an independent shopper means the right to accept or not accept a shop. It does not mean the right to do a job as required or not.
As for the bathroom situation, that's an easy one as I've had it explained to me. The client usually want's to know if employees are assisting customers (Can I help you find something?) or not. By going directly to the employee, you gave the employee points they did not earn. Same thing in many situations, giving employees points they haven't earned.

I've had shops that ask you to check the restroom, but do not ask any employees where they are. I've seen shops for restaurants that ask you not to ask for a take home bag. The employees ask if you need help anytime they see you. With the bathroom, you are told NOT to ask any employee where the bathroom is. The guidelines do not tell you to give the employee time to help you. This is ridiculous. Any normal customer will ask. The employee has many opportunities to ask if you need help.
