We really suppose to get "excited" for this?

I was recently e-mailed by a mystery shopping company in regards to work at gas stations.

I mean really, we're suppose to go all goody-goody gum drops for this? The e-mail lists several changes on how the company and the client are improving things for us shoppers except the one key thing.

Money.

After 15 years of mystery shopping, a major reason why its such a minor part of my collective income is since I've never seen rates go up once.

You'd think sooner or later companies would take a hint, money gets us ready to really shop, not new apps or being able to schedule things.

Amen buddy. It's the fee and the bonus that get me running out the door.
Everything is going up price wise, especially food, but our fees get lower and lower, I've seen jobs drop half from years ago...makes me think this will no be a viable business and with retail taking a dive, will they keep our programs.

Did the email even mention money? I always get those shops at the rate I ask. In general, rates actually paid are keeping pace.
If I read it right we won't use the MSC app anymore to report the shop. I've never used the Presto app to report. Any thoughts on that change?
I don't like using the apps and was not too excited about the email, especially since there was no info on the rate going up or them paying any faster.
My biggest concern about this is the scheduling. I like to plan my week in advance and set up routes, as I can mostly shop only 2 days a week with a few random ones thrown in if I can still make it to work on time. Will this be one of those complete within x hours of selecting a shop?
This brand has a highly minimal presence in my area, but I would do what was there. That will be no longer, as I refuse to do a gas station assignment on an app. I like doing all my reporting in the peace and quiet of my own home.

Have you ever used Presto? I doesn’t sound like it. You can report on the desktop version or the app. I’ve done over 1000 shops on Presto.
As long as the math works for me, I’ll still grab shops. For some reason, aside from MAKING money, I get a weird thrill paying for a $200 steakhouse dinner in exchange for an hour’s worth of my time writing the report, or finding a luggage cart at the airport to return for $0.50. I feel like I’m wired differently compared to the average person.

Very infrequently shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado these days.
The presto app works well. It will be interesting to see how it works out

Thanks for that information. I have used it on rare occasions to see where shops might be but have never actually picked one up using it. Good to know then.

You can choose it on the desk top and report it on the app as well.
Or choose it on the desktop and report it on the desktop.
Too bad MJF left, he always pumped up the forum with all his bonus's and high fee's....guess I live in reality,
but I just got a 30.00 bonus for an easy restaurant and easier report, totally out of the norm for L.A.

The app is actually very easy to use. I mostly prefer reporting on my pc at home but I don't mind the presto app.
I only report on my PC at home, can't teach an old dog new tricks, just let me be....

I'm a medium aged dog but I prefer reporting on my computer as well. It's easier to proofread and catch typos if there are any.

And as for the original post, I feel like it's a mix of reverse psychology and fake it til you make it! I get confused too when I see those offers. Early December, I got an offer of a bonus for a grocery shop, which I took. Then two week later they lowered the bonus they offered me for the same location. I kinda wondered if they thought I was so stupid that I had forgotten the previous bonus amount... I have no idea.
Old dog fully embracing new tricks. rarely ever use my p.c. any more. I just dictate my reports. NO more worries about emailing pics from phone to p.c. or moving SD cards from phone to p.c..

A Dad shopping the Ark-LA-Tex and beyond.

I don't have a problem with apps, or doing reports on site. One of my jobs requires it in fact.

As I stated earlier, cold hard cash gets me moving faster than a new toy.

I remember for ages a mystery shopping company was hounding me (pardon the pun) to do a mystery shop at a national gas station chain.

They'd pay for $10 of gas, and $2 for the report. A 5 page long report than included me checking out the bathroom along with several narratives.

If I did say 5 an hour I'd make $10. Yeah, go me.tongue sticking out smiley

The presto app sucks because it hasn't been thought out. I do not have a 17-year-old to do the smoke shops. I just got the oil changed so I don't need another one. I will not shop at BOA. Not up for some apartment shops due to rotation but you can only select one company to show at a time. What happened to choice.
