Grocery store shops

Is it me or has anyone else noticed that grocery shops are paying less and want more done for this shops? Is work it anymore considering the increasing gas prices.

Mine are still paying the same as they have for the past 5 years, which means that in reality they are paying less due to inflation. The reimbursed amount buys less and the gas to get there is more expensive. Worthwhile? Yes, in most cases, since I need to go to the store anyway and they will subsidize my grocery expenses. At least my mileage to the store becomes tax deductible whereas if it were not a shop it would be just my personal expense. The shops are asking for more, which is annoying, especially since the 'more' adds close to 10 minutes to my on site time and extra reporting.

I'm with flash on this one... even though you come to realize how much you already pay attention to, it's still a lot more information wanting to be had!

Agreed. More work on site, and in report, same or less pay. Stinks.

But of course inflation is what 'really brings it home'. 5 years ago the reimbursement pretty much covered the cost of food at home for the day. That was an average cost as sometimes I would get steaks or seafood, sometimes it was spaghetti and always I was purchasing the come on specials. These days that same reimbursement amount is adequate for about half a day's food.

Yeap! This time of year = inventory.....the big companies are licking their wounds, and resting....to see how they can stay in the Big game of retail.

Also, the government has cut back on so many non-profits, that provided them with special talented employee....Today! Skilled, Educated, Professionals are competing...Go figure!

I did 2 grocery shops tonight and spent 28.44 and 27.71. The reimbursement covers half of my grocery bill. I usually supplement with those nicely bonuses fast food shops. I thought it was just me.

Oh I went grocery shopping tonight and really needed to. $14 total, $5 payment and $9 reimbursement. I spent $101.

I do 20 - 25 of these grocery shops each month. I determine what I am going to get at the first store (what is on sale, etc), to get the total as close to 9.00 dollars as possible (usually between 9.00 and 9.25). I get the same items at all the stores to stock up on what I need.

For example last month I got tuna lunch kits, ended up with about 60 kits at the end of the month which will last me 6 months...

Plus I have more cans of soda now that I care for...

I also do a minimum of 4 shops in a trip to help cover the gas.

I buy special things when I ms grocery stores. I'll pick up a roast, and goodies, but, always end up spending more while msing a job than on my own. Still figure it puts me ahead, that's the way my brain works, because Iget more stuff in my house.

I'm not seeing near as many grocery shops as a year ago. I've noticed the lower end ones have disappeared. Two higher end chains here in town are shopped and their fee is more generous, $30 and $34. But their prices are higher, too.

Today I was doing 'competitor shops' and it was hysterically funny. At the competitors I was able to spread the same reimbursement amount back to a full day's food per shop. The client that does these prides themselves on their service and fascinatingly enough, one competitor scored higher on service than any of the close to a dozen of the client company stores done this month. I always knew that the competitor had better prices but was floored that they did so much better on service as well. In real life I am rarely asking assistance of the store staff.

I cleaned out two freezers this past autumn. Since then, bargain-hunting grocery shops have packed these freezers with over 300 pounds of beef, chicken, and pork. (I also buy fresh seafood, but we eat it, don't freeze it.) Additionally, assorted breads, pastries, vegetables, and other goodies have been frozen. Freezer wraps and containers were purchased with shop money. My walk-in pantry is very nicely stocked. It took many, many shops, but we sure won't go hungry and my out-of-pocket, after reimbursement, is zero.

MSing has certainly helped hone my consumer skills.

It's a competitor month here also. So many stores, too little time! Stores that aren't shopped, except as competitors, rarely get my business. When they do, it's just to pop-in and pick-up their loss leader.
