Buy four pair of sunglasses online; return three

Yeah, 10' pole here. We all know how this will go.

What, you don't want to wait 3 months to get reimbursed for $55 sunglasses and your fee?

They also had a buy 3 return 2 shop with the same online retailer. I will still pass.

Yep. If it wasn't for the lag time I'd be all over it. I loves me some sunglasses.

Hopefully enough people with a similar mindset will pass on them, and when they get bonused, I might change my mind. If it paid double what it does now I might not be as irritated by waiting 3 months.
Wouldn't you get reimbursed from the retailer for the returned sunglasses?
All you'd be waiting three months for would be payment and the sunglasses you're keeping that they reimburse, right?
Yes. Apparently my headcold and sinus medication has affected my brain considerably, lol.

But knowing me, the sunglasses I would want would be over $100...so I'd be out $150 or so for 3 months or more.
I didn't read that far in. As soon as I saw the MSC, I hit delete.

I considered doing it and applied for one so if I get it I will let you know. I did finally get my payment on the 4th of Jan for a shop on Sept 9 so I am feeling more kindly to the company right now....for actually finally paying me. How our standards can change when the paycheck is there. In any case, I was about to write them once again this morning about the payment promised for the 6th that was not paid but when i looked at the website it showed as paid on the 4th. Neither they or paypal sent me a message that payment had arrived.
I got three successive emails for the same or similar shop...one paid $35, one paid $45, one paid $55. I think the difference was purchasing an additional pair of sunglasses. I have no idea what company the glasses will come from so we will see. Good luck to you all. The side by side thread about the wait for their payments which is a current thread seems to have lots of shoppers who don;t mind waiting for them.
It's one thing to wait for $10-$15 reimbursement and fee or to wait for just the fee, but waiting for a larger reimbursement is completely different. I am doing some audits for them this month with no out of pocket expenses and that's fine I have to wait a few months to get paid, but when it's $$ on my credit card it's another thing. Plus, I am wary about this online purchase shop after another well-known MSC recently rejected some shops from reliable shoppers because of events that were out of their control. This MSC has refused to pay these shoppers. This is a new client for the MSC doing the sunglasses shop and I am not familiar with this shop. There could be all kinds of headaches and difficulties with their client and/or the website, and processing the returns, etc. What if it turns out to be hard to obtain the reimbursement for the other pairs that get returned? What if the MSC decides to reject shops? Just sayin'.
I am curious to see who the sunglass companies are. If they look legit I will not worry too much about reimbursement or return money but I will definitely check their return policy before doing the job. And as an aside, after waiting 4 mos for my pay and reimbursement they actually gave me a flat fee instead of what I thought was reimbursement for the shop I did so i got a few more bucks than I expected. Not enough to make up for the long wait though.
I looked at one of the 4 emails that were sent by them and the one with the contacts had 4 of 6 already scheduled. If it was a different company, I would have thought about applying for one myself.

KA, if you did the purchase and return shop for (what I'm assuming is) this retailer, you'll recall that they go over the returned pair with a fine-toothed comb before accepting them back. I'd hate to imagine the shape they'd be in after being kicked around by the postal service. Odds are, imho, at least one pair would get rejected for return. Additionally, the reimbursement amount does not cover most of the sunglasses in that store.

I applied for one and got accepted. It's for the huge Italian/French eyeglasses monopoly company. There's a total of 17 different brands. Each shopper is assigned to different brands. You fill out a survey for each different brand you're assigned to. Most of the brands are owned by the monopoly company. A few of them are their competitors. The instructions and survey were clearly translated from French to English. Mistakes all over the place. The guidelines make it sound like you have to have a prescription and order sunglasses with the prescription lense. The $65 reimbursement barely covers anything if it's required to purchase prescription sunglasses. I took a look at the brand I'm required to keep the purchase from and the cheapest pair of prescription sunglasses is over $300... I just contacted the scheduler and apparently she doesn't know either and is waiting to get a response from the client...

Stay away from it. I'm going to have the scheduler cancel the shop if it is required to order prescription sunglasses. I'd only keep it if the client allowed for insurance to be used, which I doubt would be allowed.

These shops look like too much of a hassle for me. Buy 4 and return 3.......... if they are Rx glasses will they even accept a return or will they just offer credit for a replacement.
Sounds like a bad gamble even before knowing the MSC payment schedule.
I was surprised to see that all the shops are already scheduled. Good Luck and I hope it goes well.
I just heard back from the scheduler. A prescription for near sightedness or far sightedness is required. You have to buy prescription sunglasses.

Told the scheduler to cancel it. The reimbursement is way too low for prescription sunglasses. You're essentially getting paid to get a little discount on their overpriced sunglasses.
That's crazy. And they should have put the requirements in the posting email...just assumig everyone wears prescription glasses?

They should put that information in for everyone. I wonder how many cancellations for this shop they will get. Wow.
That's what I meant. I don't wear prescription glasses and would not have guessed that's what these shops were, the way the posting email was worded. There was no indication.

Good information, thanks. I was considering the shop somewhat. Now I know not too. And that was before I've read here that they need to be prescription sunglasses. Wow!
This is a 10' pole for sure. Thanks for posting. Not only are they too expensive for the risk, I would need an eye exam to get a prescription!
Oh, my. This went from bad to horrendous pretty quickly. Thank you, everyone who investigated this so well. The MSC should be ashamed for not informing shoppers of what they were getting into. Even more, they shouldn't have accepted the contract without knowing what the shop really entailed. To expect any shopper to follow through with this is unimaginable.
Based on the job board, I believe that these were 100% assigned last night. Perhaps that will not be the case once people realize that their purchase will not be covered?
Wow. So for a not-big-enough reimbursement, a shopper is conceivably risking a great deal of money.

Ludicrous.
Of course it is possible to get a pair of rx glasses from China for as little as $20 so I suppose if this is a Chinese company ??? I did not see any client names when I looked at the jobs. But then are they really going to take a return on rx glasses and give back your full refund? I doubt it.
Thankfully I was never assigned a shop even tho I applied but perhaps once everyone else rejects their shops I will get an assignment.
Here is a quote from the internet"
"According to the Vision Council of America, approximately 75% of adults use some sort of vision correction. About 64% of them wear eyeglasses, and about 11% wear contact lenses, either exclusively, or with glasses. Over half of all women and about 42% of men wear glasses."
I suppose with the high numbers they may have figured most everyone will have a family member who needs these. So far I have not seen the job advertised again so maybe lots of people kept the job anyway.
I've been thinking about getting Rx sunglasses for awhile now, however, with my script and the glasses I would like, I don't think the reimbursement would cover 1/4 of the cost. Plus the return part leaves so much doubt. I'll pass and pay for my glasses down the road.
