I got offered my first assignment with this company. It was a walk-in situation with a financial advisor. The pay was $30 which was ok, but you were not able to view the job details until they accepted your assignment.

It was only then that you find out that if the financial advisor is not there or not available, you have to make an appointment and go back another day. They pay you $7 for the return visit.

I rejected their job offer. The time and gas involved to make a return trip for $7 is ridiculous. I contacted the scheduler and explained why I was rejecting the shop. Why don't they let you schedule an appointment before you go or would this make too much sense?

They generally have grocery shops but no info till accepted. But those are simple.

Technically, it is $37 if you have to make two trips. They aren't going to pay the full amount if the shop doesn't take place the first time, and all you have to do is set up an appointment. I'd look at it more as a $7 pay for the first attempt, to cover the gas and 3 minutes it will take to set up an appointment, then $30 pay for actually doing the shop the second time.

I don't schedule these, but that's what it sounds like to me.

I generally only do locations that aren't too far from my house, so it's not a big deal to go back for a second visit. However, the one time I picked up one in the next county over (as part of a small route) the advisor wasn't available. It wasn't worth my time and gas to return, so I apologized to the scheduler and cancelled the shop.

I have collected the $7 a few times, and then gone back for the $30 portion. I agree that it has to make sense in terms of time and distance. I usually do both parts as parts of routes.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I've signed up with this company but I cannot find a section on their website for available shops. Do they have a job board or only offer shops personally?

Kinesis advertises all their shops through a very large and well-known scheduling service.

Kinesis does not have a job board and does not schedule any of its own shops. Kern Scheduling Services (KSS), an independent scheduling company, schedules shops for Kinesis. KSS sends out emails about available shops. Once accepted, you get an email from Kinesis and you can go in and accept the shop on their website.
Then you submit the report on the Kinesis website. I've worked with Kinesis for about 10 years. I don't do a lot for them, but I like them a lot.

They do about 1500 shops a month, and we can always use fresh shoppers!

The problem with that shop is that you can make an appointment online to meet with the rep so you make sure there is no return visit. And the whole "what happens when I get to the branch and ask for the rep" is a minimal part of the shop. I did one last week that was near me and had to make a return visit so I didn't really care that much but if it had been far away I would have been really pissed (but no, I would not have done a $7 shop, even for a 5 minute visit).
