Anybody done the price checking in c-stores on PrestoInstaMaps?

They are so highly bonused right now that they are beginning to look attractive. However, I have enormous problems with apps -- especially in the rural areas these are available.

The job says price roughly 20 items in several different categories; you are paid $28 for each category.

How in the world do you do this "covertly"? Even taking photos with your phone, how do you walk around a tiny c-store for what looks like will be an hour without somebody wondering/asking you?

The store I'm looking at is $28 per category, and has five categories. I'm especially concerned with the tobacco category -- I'm familiar with the store, and the tobacco display is huge, and behind the counter so far as to be impossible to get a legible photo from the other side of the counter (from the customer side).

I'm doing a $150 mini route in this rural area on Monday, and it looks like another $100+ would fit in nicely. I just don't think I can complete the different categories.

Insights, help, hints, any info deeply appreciated. This is a rural area, and I much fear the app won't even load, more the less work for photos, etc. What would you do in that situation? No scheduler seems to be listed on the jobs, so I can't e-mail the scheduler for info.

Feel free to PM me if you're not comfortable posting for public (semi-public, anyway! ) consumption.

Think I saw someone zip in and out of a c-store and do what I thought was video mystery shopping of a few places in the store. One place might have been tobacco. This happened before I learned that the shops existed. I do not know if you can video each item and capture a screen shot for the requested input. Meanwhile, I would like to know more about these assignments, too. It is difficult enough in another c-store assignment to capture images of infractions. In fact, if you cannot be discreet, you ski the photo and mention this in the report.

I saw your other post about apps. You are a seasoned shopper and can do just about anything! How new is your phone, and when did you last update your apps?

Ah, Shop-et-al, it's just that I'm OLD and I do not understand how the consarn things WORK!

I have severe rhumeautoid (I can't even spell at 3 AM! ) arthritis, and my dang fingers just cannot hit the right buttons! Plus I work in rural areas, with there are no cell phone towers, so apps tend to not load and not function.

I don't know about "updating apps", but I updated to the latest 12 something on Apple a few days ago. I think my phone is an i6 -- but I wouldn't bet anything on that! My daughter gave me her old phone after she updated to a newer one.
K.

1, Can you hold a stylus? I have some thick ones from the dollar store that have the spongy tips and sometimes use them.

2. "consarn": and THIS is why you are the bomb!

3. If your hands permit this, you might try apps in small towns where connectivity exists.

I haven't done them for Presto but I have done them before using the Missions app and there's an option on the dropdown for each item where you can mark an item "Behind counter/no assistance available". I would assume if you're supposed to be covert, you could mark those obvious items with that. You can also mark "no price tag", and "item not carried".
The offer is up to $38 in my area, and I'm tempted. But the Presto app only shows me available assignments in Phoenix. I live in Salt Lake City. That's bad omen #1. Some of the comments here have me skeptical that these are worth the inflated pay. Just how much of a pain are these?

Have synthesizers, will travel...
I'm seeing them in Logan and all around St. George.

But I've lived in Salt Lake, so I know what the drive would be like.

Even with 5 audits in one store paying $38 each, not worth it! I once took 3.5 hours to go 13 miles in rush hour traffic.

Oh, and rush hour is 24/7.

On the Safety shops That I did on this app (I too am in rural area) UNLESS it can not find the GPS fix You are out of luck. If it can get the location you can take the pic and then file still on site. By thought was this If asked you were sent to buy something for your loved one and you are texting picture to see if it is the right think. I believe that most people think you are texting anyway, tell them you are an Influenster and you are sending them business. LOL
Great ideas, btm. GPS says "You are not close to this location".

I did try it again today. Long drive for nothing.
I've done some of the Mission app ones for BARE Intl. I don't know if these are the same ones, but most store owners don't care too much. I've had a few give me s, but not many. Doesn't hurt to buy a snack or something while you're there. It's not reimbursed, but it comes in the wash at the end. Usually there's only 5 or so tobacco items in those so it goes fairly quickly.
There is no way to be discrete. When an employee asks, I say that I am doing a survey for a distributor. No questions asked.
