Okay, so spreadsheet is under construction. Trip totals are at the bottom this time. We didn't spend as many nights in the van last trip due to not having our platform bed built yet which meant we couldn't keep it set up for sleeping with things stored out of the way. Tie that along with all of the @#$%& weather we ran into due to the hurricanes and we just didn't sleep in the van as much
This trip we'll have the platform bed made so this will not be an issue. For budgeting sake though, we're going to assume we're paying for a hotel 2 out of every 3 days which I think is incredibly generous. We're also allocating enough gas for 7,000 miles at $45 a fill-up even though it will certainly be less.
We plan on doing some meal prep again, but not as much as last time. We ended up not even eating everything we had made due to the times we wanted to eat out combined with pretty solid success at scooping up food assignments. We also plan on bringing more dehydrated foods since those store easier and are more compact than a meal that's been premade. One thing that was kind of annoying was having to carry round two dozen food storage containers for weeks after we ate the food. Part of that will be alleviated with all the extra storage room we'll have on this trip though so we'll see.
We're still bringing the big igloo cooler and will only bring one other smaller cooler for the days food or things we pick up on shop. (by having the cooler we can do more food than we can eat in a day. Usually you just need a bite to test the food. Then we can store the rest. We try to pick up shops where it wont be food that sucks if reheated or eaten the next day. That, or we'll eat the stuff that reheats terribly and save the other stuff.
We are bringing a stove this time so we can do some cooking when we stop for the night. We're not sure yet, but considering getting some dehydrated Patriot meals. Then we can just buy and cook meat for those meals to complement the dehydrated meals that are meatless. We may even save a list of one pot instant pot meals we can make and do that.
We aren't sure we'll have solar panels or batteries set up on this route yet. Likely not.
Now this route? One person can easily do in 4-5 weeks. This is NOT a required two person route. So if any of ya'll interested in doing something similar in Q1 let me know. I may be able to hook you up :p i'll hit up the MSP to give me a buck or two each shop for helping them haha. At the very least, I can connect you with the various schedulers and you can send me a tasty craft beer if things work out
We have it in writing for every shop that regardless of what state it is or local requirements, that we can ask the associate we have to interact with to wear a mask. If they dont when we ask politely, we have it in writing we can leave and will be paid in full for the shop. I dont actually expect this to happen and neither does the MSP, but it's nice having that guarantee. Especially considering we're going to known hotspots like Florida.
We have currently set things up so we have zero shops after 6pm on any day of the week, no shops Saturday after 5pm, and no shops on Sunday at all. We might give on this for a hotel or food shop, or if perhaps i get frisky and wanna do a few extra jobs to give myself some spending cash for some online games i play...but otherwise that's going to be our rest and relaxation dates. We'll be trying to find oceanside campgrounds or hotels for our days off.
We're planning a 2 to 4 day mini vacation somewhere in Florida and again by Houston. We have some planned visits with some guild members I have in the carolinas again as well as Louisiana.
"Tentatively" our goal is to take home 9,000 or more after all expenses on the trip itself. We're not going to include things like the platform bed, solar panels, or other things we buy for the van itself. This way people have a better idea what things would look like for them instead of having to deduct a bunch of @#$%& they wont be buying.
