Invoices? Just did my first shop as an IC

I used to shop for a company as an internal employee. Today was my first time as an IC. It has occurred to me that I have seen mention of an invoice to the MSC's and I have no idea how that is supposed to work. I just got a paycheck and bonuses, expenses and per diem. (I'm thinking that was the simple life after reading all the boards here-but it was pretty mundane).

It seemed easy getting this job-but its the end of the month and they were probably desperate. I remember the end of the month crazy all too well!

One other note is that there was a question that they expected me to have an answer for that they never told me to ask. I went back and checked the guidelines. Not sure what to do with that, but I answered it to that effect under "Other" which was the only option available that I could use.

Any help, insight or commiseration appreciated! Thanks smiling smiley

Depending on the MSC, the invoice will be submitted for you.

The vast majority of my shops require no invoices. It's all done on the back end by the MSCs. The few that require them will tell you. Regarding questions not in the guidelines, this is not uncommon. It is best practice to read the questionnaire before the shop (when possible) in addition to reading the guidelines.
Desperation is magnified in my city due to Covid 19. All those shops where they need a huge force of city people to fill them all with rotations are getting bonused even here in no bonus land. Many shoppers are still not out there. Since you have not mentioned either the client or the msc, if you tell us the msc someone could let you know about the invoice issue. You are allowed to mention one or the other, but not both.

For whom were you working? I would guess that it was a better deal than working as an IC if you are doing this as a full time job.
