The one and only mattress shop I ever did was for $35 and even that was not worth it.
Some of the Chicken shops are $0.00 and have been since we started coming back from the latest round of worldwide sickness.
Over a period of 14+ years, I have completed 16 jobs for White Clay, formerly Marketing Endeavors, with seven being of the mattress category. The current pay is $30, with an average shop and report time totaling one hour. I would not hesitate to complete more work of that nature should it become available in my area.
I'm astonished that those would be picked up for $5.00... I'm more astonished that enough of them were taken (and done at a satisfactory level) such that the MSC felt it could offer them for $4.00. Wow.
Sometimes the free market that is mystery shopping works well for the shopper... Sometimes, not so much... Hopefully, low fees like this will not continue once we have better employment numbers nationally.

I wait until the cheap ones (which are the ones I'm pretty sure the author was talking about in the) are somewhere north of $13 before I bite, even though most times I'm in and out in less than 20 minutes and the report is very easy.

I love these mattress shops, too. I did two last week, one at base price and one significantly bonused because it was very close to the end of reporting period.

I did a mattress shop for $62 last week. I have not seen them for less than $25, even at the beginning of the month. I had to make a phone call and record it. Then the store visit was about 40 minutes. It took me about 30 minutes to debrief with a decent amount of narrative. I don't think I would do this for less than $40, even if it was very conveniently located.

Bob agrees--Adding $10 to a $30 shop to cover the extra work of a recorded call certainly sounds reasonable to me. In addition, if a target were involved I would also increase my ask.

Why would anyone do these at $4,00? My last one was at $25 and I thought that was low. Value your time people.

I seem to recall them being $28 back in 2018-19 on the boards in my area. I just remember scanning the guidelines once and saying, "Nope!" I just cannot do shops that require me to read, learn about, and internalize some subject matter that I have no interest in.
It's torture for me to read about mattress types or reclining chairs. If these were narrative heavy, I'd think I'd need at least $60.
There are two different MSCs that do mattress shops, that I am aware of. One of them, the "Make an Offer" one with "Samantha" is the very low price one, starting now it seems at $4.00. The other one is a Sassie company that does require a good bit of narrative and keen observations. I did a bonused one last summer for $40. I don't think I'd do another one for them for less than $40. That seemed fair to me. I'd never do the low-ball one at that price, for sure. I did do a bonused one for the low-priced MSC last year for $18.00. There wasn't much to the report, so I thought $18.00 was OK.

Are these the ones that are sometimes referred to as the "furniture" shops in other threads?
White Clay pays fairly and their schedulers and editors are nice. Some of their mattress shops pay $30, and others, $50. I usually spend over an hour on each shop (visit and report) because I appreciate how they treat me. This is only reinforced when their editor recently added a bonus AFTER THE FACT and praised me for the quality of my report.
