Sonesta Hotels

Has anyone done the Sonesta hotel shops? The guidelines sound similar to the Wyndham shops, but I am not sure how many questions are on the survey. There is also no fee, only reimbursement, unlike the Wyndham shops, so I am debating if it's worth it.

By the way, has anyone seen any Wyndham shops since Covid?

I have not although I noticed a couple of older Residents inns just got rebranded to Sonesta ES in my area so I'll have to keep an eye out for these.

Yes. I have seen Wyndham this month actually.

Have have only done Sonesta Hotels bar shops pre-Covid. Wondering if it’s the same scheduling company?

I did one today. It's the same MSC that does a lot of the reimbursement only shops. It's about the same length as their normal hotel shops. Requires some photos. It requires the safety/security check. It wasn't bad. It didn't take too long to write up. I found it easier than some of their other hotel shops.

I have done a couple of these. Fairly easy hotel shops. No reimbursement given, but funded a stay out of town in a nice hotel. Would recommend if you want to get out of town.

Is parking reimbursed for the Sonesta shops. The guidelines does not mention anything about parking.

The scheduler would be the person to ask.

All the hotel shops I am aware of and have completed included reimbursed parking; however, written email "trail" of the confirmation with a scheduler on anything that isn't specifically covered in the guidelines is the safe way to go.

I have not seen any of their hotels in my area that charge parking but I would check with the scheduler if you're at a property where parking is charged. In the past, this MSC has been willing to pay for parking when it's required and charged.

I concur. This MSC has always covered any hotel parking requirements in the past. I find them very easy to deal with and quite responsive.

I checked the Trip Advisor ratings of all of the Sonesta properties within 50 miles of me (basic DMV region) and found nothing but high ratings. Now that I am fully vaccinated, I will be grabbing some of these, starting in May. I have researched the rewards program and it is looking very good.

Are the Sonesta shops only located near the East Coast?
I know they have some locations out West, and at many major airports. I haven't seen any posted, but then again may not be with the MSC yet either (still fairly new to the mystery shopping life).

I am in MD, and they are all over this area. And, much of the rest of the country. Plus, I know that there is one, at least, in Canada.

They are a newer hotel chain that has been purchasing mostly extended stay properties that were previously branded by big hotel companies. I've seen previous Residence inn, Staybridge, Homewood properties show up in their portfolio. They've been growing like crazy recently and have been purchasing a ton of previously branded properties. They brought at least five in the Atlanta area just within the last few months.

Wow! Many thanks for that news. It really fits with what this MSC has had in terms of prior hotel properties. NOT the low end of extended stay properties.

Was able to locate the MSC, not many shops are left. Think I saw 2 total, opposite coasts. Hoping there may be another round for a different month. I agree - reviews look pretty good for the ones near me as well.

I just completed one. The form is easy. I was working in the area and wanted to stay overnight. It was worth it to me. I saved money by not paying for a hotel. The report took me about 40 minutes to complete.

This MSC's hotel shops usually go very fast. I hit their job board yesterday just as a May hotel shop, not Sonesta, popped up and grabbed it. I already belong to the rewards program and have the cc for this brand, lol. Am waiting for the club card and credit card for Sonesta to arrive.

I just did a Sonesta ES in the same area you are, Walesmaven (hello, neighbor!). Their loyalty program will status match if you have elevated status with another loyalty program. While it doesn't allow for automatic bonus points, it does entitle you to a few perks, such a food & beverage credit in the sundry shop, late checkout, etc.

i dont know if im allowed to ask. Is Sonesta in one of the top 10?

There are 2 MSCs that I have seen that shop them. One is primarily a hotel MSC, the other is known for mostly reimburse only shops.
