MS with Kids

I just saw a post for a fancy steakhouse that states no children allowed. It got me thinking since I just had a baby not too long ago. Do you assume that children are allowed on mystery shops unless otherwise stated in the guidelines? I like to do restaurant shops when available and I am curious if others reach out for clarification or just assume unless it specifically states no children allowed.

Especially on shops where you have to time things...not just in restaurants, either. Many times I have to be careful in timing how long I am in line with the grocery shops.

When my daughter was younger, I asked on anything where a guest was allowed. As she got older and understood what I was doing, she would quietly get names, look for signs, inspect the room - everything I was supposed to be doing. I did not depend on her findings but it was good for her observational skills.

And there are a few shops where you have to take kids that are kids centric. So you can take a look at those as well!

... for both you and the person you are evaluating. It may make them "rush" a sales pitch, for example, seeing you have a child.

When children are welcome, I enjoy doing Amuse*ment Adv*antage with them.

Congratulations on your blessed event.

My amateur take would be that a baby would be allowed unless specifically forbidden (and when they use language like, "You must do this shop ALONE," yeah, that means no baby. Babies count as not being alone).

Even on ones where there are no specific prohibitions, my guess is you'll be responsible for all observations as if the baby weren't in tow "Couldn't hear the associate's name because baby was crying" would disqualify the shop, I'd imagine.

I usually ask that question if it's not stated either way. I had one say "absolutely! It actually helps keeping you covert as they wouldn't expect a mom/day/grandparent/etc, in a group".

If it's not stated in the guidelines, then definitely check with your MSC contact to see if an assignment would permit an accompanying child.
For the record, accompanying children, friends, and/or guests are welcome for all of Servimer's shops.

My kids wish that rule would change..... they are tired of going to work with me lol!

I have taken my kids on various Amusement Adv shops in the past. They are grown now but I would caution anyone to be careful bringing young children to many of these shops unless there is a second adult to stay with them while you hop from interaction to interaction. For some it is definitely great but there are some where you need to cover a long list of interactions and experiences in a short time requiring a non stop "work" and lots of walking to cover it all before the exhibits closed.
