7-11 "Concealed" Audits

This shop has a seemingly generous fee and is a concealed audit that supposedly takes 20 minutes to take photos and get prices in several different sections in the store. I question whether a mystery shopper could actually do this in so little time in the store, while not being made as a mystery shopper. Even 20 minutes is a long time to remain in a small c-store. If any of you have done this shop, please comment on how you managed it without arousing the suspicion of the employee, and how long it took you to complete the shop.

I've not done the audit but I've merchandised in dozens of 7-Elevens. Nearly all of them have owner-managers on duty, and they watch their customers like a hawk. It would be quite a challenge to get a covert audit done, especially with pictures.

I completely agree with, "Watch their customers like a hawk." Their managers are the most suspicious I've encountered on a consistent basis.

There is no way to be in a 7-11 for twenty minutes and not look suspicious. On top of that, you are supposed to take pictures. Sounds like a nightmare.

I would recommend a series of merches. These covert gigs will not require more time than shops, and you can route them.

I tried to do one of these audits in a quicktrip, which is similar to 7-eleven. After about 5 minutes the employee asked me what I was doing, and I tried to explain. He said he didn't know anything about it and he didn't want me to do it. I just bailed on the shop. I won't do these anymore. I don't like being somewhere I'm not supposed to be without authorization.

Merches are merchandising shops. Instead of actually shopping, you're putting up new products or signage or whatever. You have a letter of authorization, so they know you're there. The poster is suggesting that this type of work is faster and less risky than an undercover shop at a gas station.

Yeah, I was having trouble comprehending...something about "covert gigs" requiring no more time than shops, and being able to route them. Nothing covert about merchandising -- like another poster said, you have a letter of authorization, they know what you're doing.

However, with my new phone, I've been able to do some "covert" shops while merchandising -- Ivueit has photos, quick and easy, for like $15, and if you're on site merchandising, they NEVER ask why you're taking photos!

So maybe merchandise, but go ahead and do the mystery shop, too? Double dipping!!!!!

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeez. grinning smiley This was nothing compared to the time I was kicked out of an office (not a gig) after starting to say something, mangling it to the point it sounded like the opposite of what I was intending to say, and having no chance to whimper, "May I start over, please?" I have not had a stroke, and I do not have word salad, exactly. When I am too tired to speak (or write), I should just crawl under the covers and stay there until I can communicate properly again.

On Long Island, it is impossible to spend 20 minutes in a 7-Eleven without getting confronted by staff. You have a better chance to see the face of God.

I did a gas route recently that the c-store were 7-11s. I spent 5 minutes in a few trying to find something to eat and in others to buy something useful and interesting as they were in isolated areas. I was being watched continuously and had the employees walk around me multiple times. I do not see it possible to be in one for 20 minutes taking photos. Even at the huge ones that have multiple employees.

Is this the photo audit that requires you to take photos of beer cans that come from the cooler and also room temp ? I saw those on the board, but passed on them. Would take way too long and I'm sure would raise a red flag to the employees. Last time I checked their was a ton still left in my area.

I'd wondered about these shops, but it was weird to see such a mish-mash of locations (not just 7-11). Glad to see this
