New Ipsos 1P Tech Hardware Shops - Beware

I normally will do this shop even though it only pays $12 as one of the phone stores is a quarter mile from my house.

I was trying to determine what it was from the vague description. I requested one figuring I would download the guidelines and then accept or reject the shop.

I could not download the guidelines until I accepted the shop since they are downloaded from inside the report along with the quiz you must take.

Here's what upsets me. I would never have accepted this shop for so little pay if I had known this requirement:

"U.S. SHOPPERS ONLY: A clear image of the location’s interior, including a display or promotional signage".

It's a mystery shop right? There are usually three or four employees at this location. How do I discretely take a picture of the inside of the store?

Pretend to be testing out the camera feature on your phone.

Ask an associate for help learning how to send or post a picture. Snap the picture and say, ok, how do I....

Get a good camera with a high quality telephoto lens and snap the picture through the store window from the parking lot.

Oh, boy, have I ever used that scenario! "I just got this phone, can you help me figure out..."

Works a charm.

It helps that everyone seems to have a smart phone now, and on it constantly. So you can pretend to be texting or talking and take photos.

I don't know how, but I've been told on good authority that you can set your phone to eliminate the whirr of the shutter, so you can take a photo without anyone knowing you're taking photos.

Good luck!
Turn the volume off on your phone before attempting to take the picture and also turn off the flash.

I normally act like I'm texting and snap a picture when the associates are helping other customers.

If you have an android: Click on the camera icon, then click on the very top left (camera settings) next to the flash icon. Scroll down, near the bottom, and slide to turn off "shutter sound." I have it permanent off. I usually have the flash also on off as I take photos when I do bars, or something else that I need to remember.
If it's a display, I will pick up a product off the display and take a picture of the product. Then act like I am sending the picture to someone. If seen, the employee thinks I am asking that person if this is what they want me to purchase them. I make sure I take a picture of the entire display, not just the product. I am in stores all the time and see a lot of people doing this. I don't think most customers and/or employees even think about it when a person takes a picture inside of stores because it happens all the time. Just take the picture without being nervous and tipping people off.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
Put the phone in video mode. Grab a screenshot from the video later. Don't take the interior photo from outside. You'll risk rejection of the shop.
I just did a bunch of these. I questionnthe same thing. Pay is low and they want an interior phone. Oh and on top of that they want several comments. One sentence is not enough for some editors. You never know which you'll get. Some was 2-3 sentences for each comment. Theres about 7 depending on your answers so a few paragraphs of stuff already answered by the multiple choice questions. Its frustrating and not worth it. I also just did a bunch of the other ones they accepted but are now refusing to pay for. I will be writibg a separate post on that shortly. There needs to be a place to report msc that dont pay or pay on time!
This Forum is the "place to report msc that don't pay or pay on time" so that it serves as a potential warning for other shoppers. We are independent contractors. We are not governed or protected by State labor boards or laws. The BBB considers disputes like this to be about pay and most certainly not consumer vs business issues which they deal with, and they will not get involved. There are many past threads about the futility of contacting any BBB. So, as I said, this Forum is the place. Read and learn.

Yes, the first thing I do when I get a new phone is remove the "click" sounds and turn off the flash.

Another thing you can do if you absolutely cannot get a covert shot is to turn on the video and capture a still to submit for the shop.
