$1 to create a Gmail account?

For those who did the shop, do you still own the gmail account you created? I am curious to know if there is any activity on it.

I have to create about a dozen Gmail accounts a month for new home and apartment video shops. It’s easy to do with a VPN. The MSP paying for this is technologically backwards.

I did one shop. I no longer have access to the account because the password was changed.

I bet they are so busy with their current big project that one of the young millenia employees of the client who most have no understanding of the value of money suggested to just get shoppers to create the emails than doing it themselves. It is just expenditures for the projects and tax deductible for the client. I deal with a many of the tech people. They get delivery from McDonalds and Starbucks that are literally across the street from their office, paying the $4 surcharge per drink.
Yes. Indeed. Maybe a current big project worth a few million U.S dollars is keeping the employees busy. And I would bet (real money) that some employees or client employees who pay high drink surcharges will soon get piping hot coffee from Tim Horton's which is literally across the street. If those tech employees are willing to pay high per item delivery fees I'd guess that some of the IC's doing the delivering might do the work for one US dollar. Other IC's might scrape a few Loonies together for some shares on the TSXV and or OTCQX exchange.

Delivery companies charge a premium for same day jobs. I'd do the same as a mystery shop IC or hobbyist. Some of these same day tasks or HITS (Human Intelligence Tasks) the MSC's offer are starting to look like a piece in a Mechanical Turk, like Mturk where people accept work for only a penny per task.
Reset your password so you can see what activity is being done. At the very least, you want to make sure there is nothing illegal.

The scheduler promptly went in and changed the password. I'm guessing the shopper is locked out but the account is still tied to them via Google's tracking.
For crying out loud. Enough already. This is ridiculous.

So, now to satisfy YOUR curiosity, you want me to spend time trying to find a way to change the password so that I can see what is going on? I would probably lose my $1.00 fee to satisfy YOUR curiosity. How about this? You send me (via Zelle or Venmo) $2 and I will then (after I get the money) change the password (if I can) and let everyone here know what I see. Deal?

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
I wouldn't do what HonnyBrown suggested even if she sent me $200.

I did not think there was anything sketchy when I self-assigned the shop and I still don't think there is anything sketchy. It is none of my business how the MSC is using the account.

I would not sabotage the MSC by changing the password, which would render the email account useless to them.

Since the email is connected to your account, I would think you would want to know how it's being used.

I have no vested interest outside of curiosity. If you don't care, you don't care.

You and many others in this thread have been making a lot of assumptions. No, the email is not connected to my account.

I. Don't. Care.

I read the email, looked at the list of shops and most were gone already. But I don't work for $1 no matter how little actual work is involved, it just seemed to be a scam to me. So I deleted the email.

I'm sure if Google violated me for a TOS infraction, I could find another free email service, but why would I do that?

I don't think it's a scam, but even if it takes 3 minutes to actually create the new email address, there's extra time in reading the email, reading the guidelines, then doing the activity. That cannot be a money-making proposition. Let's say all of that takes between 5 and 10 minutes. I can't see how it would take fewer than 5 minutes, anyway. That's $12/hour. Less taxes, it's maybe $10. Not worth it to me. I could spend that time looking for better-paying jobs!

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
If you have an Android phone and the new email is connected to that account, you could lose all of your Google access.

I believe you are assuming you have to link this new fake gmail account to your phone number.

You do not have to enter a phone number, so how would they link it? You provided a fake name and password and got a fake e-mail address. You've provided no information to link the fake account back to you. I guess they could trace the IP address that set up the account.
IP address, digital trail, etc.

I am now just seeing how these are being used. I have my reservations about this whole thing but I am going to give it a try anyway as it seems like a really easy project with a ton of work near me.
How are the accounts being used?

It is for a beta app to get the location of EV charging stations. Lucrative in my area.
I saw these shops a while back and was curious about them! I couldn't find anybody who had any info on them though.

I've always wondered how this list would get updated and if it ever would.

I just looked at the list of 15 most discussed MSCs. Many (I'd say about a quarter) of the companies on the top 15 list are either out of business, have merged, or are now relatively inactive. I don't think the count of discussions for those fifteen or the ones lower down has been updated in years.
