Jack now $10 if location closed?

Hey all —

I hadn’t done a big route of Jack shops in a while — but noticed something different in that if a location is closed, they are “excluding with pay” but adjusting the rate to $10. This is irritating because for years I’ve looked at these as bonus locations where I would get the full rate but not have to buy food… which was nice. But even so — I don’t do these for under $25, so even if they wanted to account for food, my profit margin is around $18 — so that is what I would expect.

Has anyone else noticed this? I had 4 closed locations this weekend so counted that as $100 like I’ve always done — now it’s adjusted to $40.

It absolutely isn’t my fault they aren’t open during their posted business hours.

Am I stupid for being irritated by this? I don’t see anything in the literature of closed locations being paid $10 and it’s never been that way before.

Thanks!

Dang! You are getting paid! I will do these for $10-$12 profit because if I don't, they're gone. They're rarely in the $20s and I've never seen above $24 -even the day before they expire. I think they're easy.
Another MSC has lower, closed location fees for almost all of their projects, which burns my butt because most of the time I spend just as much time going to a closed or non-existent place as I would for an open site. And if there was to be a reimbursement I've lost that already.
I’m not seeing any at all this week. Maybe the contract wasn’t renewed in 2022. Edited to add, I spoke too soon. They are up again.

Also noticed some where you cannot order and be reimbursed for a milkshake as they have reached their ”quota”.
I certainly wouldn't agree to a route that involves travel if there was a chance that I could end up making half of what I was expecting.
MSCs are in a constant rush to the bottom. At the bottom, of course, they get what they pay for.

Well that is my exact gripe here — I’ve done MANY of these shops by now and they always have paid full rate if a location was closed, under renovation etc. — I’ve always looked at them as an extra little bonus where I didn’t need to buy food. I did two routes of around 15 locations each around Christmas and last week — the first one I had 3 closed locations — the first one was “excluded with pay” like usual with the full rate, but the other two said the same thing but were reduced from 26 to 10. This last week all 3 were reduced to 10. If they want to do this, whatever… but it should be noted in the guidelines. I just thought it was really odd that one of them was paid out at full rate but the others weren’t.

Of all the fast food places around here, especially now with short staffing and weather, Jack is by FAR the worst at throwing up something to block their drive through (it’s kinda hilarious… pallets, a high chair, boxes — sometimes a hand written note on the speaker) in the middle of the day. They also do not always open on time — due to the cheaper food requirements for breakfast, I get up early and start these ASAP — I usually arrive to the first location right at 6am, but if they aren’t open I give them until 6:10am before marking them as closed during business hours and going onto the next one — it’s about 50/50 if they actually are open on time — whereas McDonalds and others are open and ready to go, I’ve had Jacks not open until nearly 8am.

But my point is that it’s not my fault if they don’t open on time or if they close during the day due to staffing or whatever reason — if I’m doing a route I can’t double back or go another time — if they want to reduce it by 5-8 due to not having to buy food, that’s cool — but $16 less is BS, especially when they are in the outer areas and the ONLY reason I took those was to clear a $15-18 profit. Yes, around here they top out around 26 if you catch them near the end of the week at the end of the period… it used to be easier to plan for these, but it also seems like they change up their periods so it’s harder to track pricing… I don’t think I know of another program that watches their costs so closely — I’ve offered large routes to schedulers at a rate that would be fair and allow me to plan most efficiently — but they never give in — I always have to try and throw it together on the job board when they bump the higher prices.

If they are paying out less for closed locations due to more locations being closed more often — that’s kinda between them and the client. Has nothing to do with me. It just will make me think twice about going to the further out locations on my routes and they will get less shops covered. Usually I will hit one or two further out if I want to take a nice drive and the pay is right.

Has anyone had a problem ordering tacos? I have one today and checking prices online before my visit I don’t see tacos listed anymore, just tiny tacos. I’m guessing best to not order the tiny tacos and just report they didn’t have tacos.

Right. Do not order tiny tacos. I have had a few that didn't have tacos. I reported that and was fine i had one that did not give me the tacos and I had paid for them. I had another that gave me 4 tacos, I asked for 2 tacos and it was taken as 2 orders. I have had no problems with any of my reports. I now say 1 order of tacos so it's not mistaken again.
