Mailing buddies

Hello! I do the postal shops and was looking for a buddy to mail to and vice versa. I usually send to my grandkids, but right now have nothing to send them and would like to pick up some shops. Looking for someone not too far out, as I think the zones cost more. I’m in Virginia . Thanks!

I solved the problem of needing a mail buddy by shipping a poly mailer from the Dollar Tree to a recycle center of old newspaper, junk mail and magazines.

ShoppingDad, do these shops require a 1 pound weight? If so, what do you include in the polyfill envelope?
When I did them I mailed cans of food to my parent's church food bank in northern Michigan. I ate the cost of the food, .40 per 16 oz can. No big deal to do a good thing for people in need.
My cat refuses to eat cat food salmon when I buy him a variety pack. I ship the salmon cans to a favorite animal shelter, one state over.
I'm not in zone 5---8 from you.
Can you not send just anything to the grandchildren such as a box of cold cereal ( 12--18 oz.) or 16 oz. pasta or even a box of hot cocoa mix? I'm baking cookies tomorrow to ship to my sister across the country.
my zip code starts with 350, I may not be zone 5 or higher, but I wouldn't mind a mailing buddy for regular box shops.

I currently drive to different parts of my state and mail canned food back to myself for the regular box shops.. And I send the over-used boxes that need to be thrown away, to my mother (in my zone 8) as a hazmat shop. I lose a lot of cans of sliced beets that way.. lol

I looked at the USPS zone chart for my area. it looks like most of VA is zone 5 from here. tell me the first 3 numbers of your zip code, then we can be sure.

I mailed a box to California today. Earlier in the month a similar package cost $13.95. Today it was $14.75. The clerk explained there had been a price increase. I love my kids and grand kids, but I am not interested in losing money on each box I send to them.

If anyone here is interested in mailing things back and forth with someone in the 631.... area please send me a PM.

I live in South Florida and mail to several people in Va. They are in zone 5 and the cost is within the reimbursement even with the rise in postage. If interested, PM me.
I have only ever done with the shipping shops.

I needed to mail some documents to a state office, definitely not a pound worth. I'd like to apologize to the poor worker that received my package filled with random bubble wrap and filler trying to hit the 1lb mark. lol; probably thought I was crazy...but they confirmed receipt of the documents and I got paid. Win/win.

Yes minimum 1 pound. I fill it with any junk mail I received: catalogs, weekly grocery ads, sale pitch brochures, magazines etc.

post the first 3 digits of your zip code, and use this handy dandy chart to see who is in which zones from where you are. The first 3 of my zip code are 350.

Regular box shops do NOT have to go to zone 5 -8, they only have to go to a different zip code. Only hazmat must go to zones 5 - 8 because they need to be guaranteed that they will be shipped by air. The purpose of the hazmat shops is to limit the damage caused to aircraft, people, and to other packages by the contents.

I only do regular box shops and I am open to mailing partners from anywhere except the city I live in, because my entire city is a single zip code. IF I get a hazmat shop (which almost never happens), I send something to my mother who is on the bare edge of zone 8 from me.. or to MN to a different family member, but that is beyond zone 8 and costs extra.

I'm in Utah, and I would welcome a mailing buddy.

SLC is zone 7, count me in.
