Just did my last 5 guys

I have done shops for 5 guys for many years and watched both the prices and the reimbursements go up but today after paying over $15 for the burger, fries, and drink, I decided that it should not cost me money and I do not the calories that the meal provides?

I do them a few times a year and when they are bonused.
I only pick them up if I get a $50 MAO approved. Not worth it even for $25. I get the $50 MAO every so often.
The online order or phone call scenario for $25 pay is good enough. Yes, $50 would be nice, but where I live, it will never reach that amount. There are too many $9-$15 clowns out there.

That's crazy.

The Bayonne, Denville and occasionally the Edgewater, NJ 5G get me the $50 fee. I used to take them for $25-$40 and went for broke at the end of the month. Boom, they accepted and it's on from there.

People taking it for $9 - $15 is interesting as they are undervaluing their time and effort IMO.
Wow, in the Charlotte, NC area, if I waited for $50 fees I would never get an opportunity. Even $25 is rare and typically only offered if they have a last-minute need to get the shop done.

Northern NJ and the New York City boroughs (Manhattan/Staten Island) are harder to fill as parking and traffic is a pain. I work on an investigative capacity and law enforcement understands if I park places that I am not supposed to etc as we have rapport between the company I work for and their departments. It does a long way when I can double park and grab a meal and/or park behind a building etc.

$25 is pretty much the standard around her for 5G due to the difficulty of getting to these restaurants,
I'm with the OP I did my last one when they came back and had a certification quize. I use that as my excuse not to take them.
The "Offers from S******tha" have dropped from $26 to $19, and sometimes $16.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

Getting a 5 guys shop for $25 in northern Alabama is kind of rare. My son does them for $25. I have noticed that he's been doing fewer and fewer of them. I've suspected for a while there are some new shoppers In this area which is why all the gas stations are going so cheaply and why it's getting tough to get a decent paycheck for doing fast food places too.

I am sure that they are still making a boatload of money on their contract with 5G. The MSC has figured that many people take them between $9-$16 and they hover around that sweet spot. On the rare chance they have to pay $19- $25 they will and the $50 is even rarer (typically end of the shopping month, late night shop). I look at it this way, one $50 shop a month is the same as 4 $12 shops.

Total side note, I saw a USPS regular box shop on the board for $100. The scheduler said it hadn’t been shopped in the quarter they needed it desperately done.
Sometimes the value of our time has different rates for the same person.
I don't blame you. Up here in Canada our reimbursement is 15.45. A little burger, little fries and a regular drink is over $17 and I refuse to go into a burger shop and order a grilled cheese, veggie sandwich or hot dog...but especially at their prices...I have a min I will do the shops for, and I don't budge. Soon my min is going to go up if five guys keeps upping the prices. And the reimbursement is not raised.

Their menu is loaded with sodium, sugar, and fat. No way would I eat 5G food, it’s poison for the cardiovascular system.
Don't order the bacon flavored shake! HaHa! For those that never look at the shakes, it is a real offering at my location in Texas.
My daughter loves their bacon caramel milkshake. It’s not as bad as it sounds.
I don't seek out the milkshake shops because I have zero willpower and usually consume most of it...with added whipped cream of course. The chocolate with salted caramel and strawberries is delicious.

The prices have gone up again in my area. I always order a little bacon cheeseburger, little fries. I will pay a little extra for my bacon out of my fee - no less than $25. The reimbursement doesn't come close to covering a basic order. They need to up that reimbursement again.
in northern California, prices have gone up, # of fries has gone down, I ask for $25 MAO and get a reply I must ask for at least $3 less and resubmit my request. I will have to wean myself off the fries soon. I LOVE them.

Wow I guess it's another world on the other side of the Hudson. Good luck getting more than $20-25 on Long Island.

The ones in LI go faster than the ones in Staten Island and North Jersey. It’s interesting to see the economics.
I order a peanut butter and bacon shake. It is quite delicious!

I am in Greensboro/Asheboro area. My standard has become that I am not leaving my home for less than $20 a shop, unless I am already going to be in that area. The pay has not increased on any shops (or for very little) that I have seen since 2004. That is when I first began.

Where I used to live you could get $100 bonus to travel for fast food shops. Most of the state was rural.

Here in NC the jobs seem to be few and pay is ridiculously low. I believe with gas being so high you are shooting yourself in the foot for even going 5 miles for a gas audit at $10. It cost around $3 just to move your car (oil, gas, insurance, etc.) for the day. Then your time, anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Plus your cell phone, laptop, printer, taxes, etc. You are lucky to be making $5 an hour!

Sorry to hear. I live on Long Island but have heavy ties to North Carolina and spend several weeks there a year, and while I find you are right that there are fewer opportunities, it's a bonus paradise next to Long Island. (Of course this is the region east of Raleigh that isn't as populated as the Piedmont where you are.) $25-$30 for 5G is the best I can hope for on Long Island, I can blow past that easily in Southern Virginia or Eastern NC.

The MSC has also never turned down my MAO requests for their other clients like Sonic or Big Lots or the mattress place etc. when I'm down there. On Long Island I get shot down regularly.
