Who maintains this forum❓

Since the MSC list is outdated, any ideas what entity runs and maintain this forum? I occasionally see a topic moved, so someone has some admin power.

I assumed no one because it is so outdated, but you bring up a good point about the topic police moving things around.
I believe it is someone named Jacob, not connected to any MSC or 'business'
And that may be made up like Remington Steele.
As I recall, approx. 13 yrs. ago Jacob started the board. At that time, the Volition forum was the main source of shopper information; I joined that site in 2003. In the beginning, Jacob was active and even had a shopper newsletter, but I have not seen any evidence of his involvement in some time.
There was a person named Jacob, who used to occasionally interact with shoppers and was an active part of the Magazine. The last Magazine issue was January 2020. My feeling is that this site has largely been on autopilot since then, although there are still some moderators, and messages reported as spam still get deleted.

My concern is that maintaining this website costs money. At some point, the bill will come due, and who will pay it? Or there will be a critical software problem, and who will fix it? I am not aware of any other websites that we could migrate to in case of need.

My guess is the bills are paid out of the advertising revenue. Just on this 1 page there are ads interspaced with comments from Amazon, Hive, Peacock, Starz, AARP and Wayfair.
Jacob is real and is the owner of this forum. His life has evolved since starting this forum from being single to becoming a family man. Daily monitoring of the forum by monitors is indeed happening, but they too are evolving. I would offer my list of companies, though it has not been maintained systematically for about a decade as the companies I am willing to work with has shortened to a handful of bookmarks. You may wish to try hitting the ! at the bottom of a post to provide updated information that a moderator could enter in the MSC list.
There is now an active effort to update the database. Here is a link to the thread: [www.mysteryshopforum.com]

I have begun contributing the names of out-of-business companies directly by PM to the person who is leading the effort.

You're amazing! Thank you.

We might end up with a very short list! So sad. Thank you for doing this, though.

I went through the entire list and submitted dozens and dozens of corrections. I suggested that a complete list of suggested corrections be posted.

They started the ads a few years ago. I’m sure they more than cover the running costs of the website.

Regarding mods, a few years ago they had a nut case mod who revealed personal info about users of the website. I’m guessing Jacob is reluctant to trust anybody in the role these days.

Also, most of the trouble stirrers who used to make this forum like a war-zone have given up the ghost. Anyone remember Irene?
I want your ad blocker if you wonder who will pay the bills.

Adblock fast. Not a single ad shows for me. But in the rare case that I turn it off and come here, the sight looks like Spam City and gives the impression that nothing herein would be true or valuable.
Hmm. Googling Adblock Fast shows a lot of hits talking about it being malware. I have an adblocker on my laptop, but have never installed one on my iPhone because I was never happy with what I read about any of them, and I dont get a lot on phone on sites I frequent except this one.
It takes a person from the Delaware Valley to take action. You're awesome myst4au!

They probably all are. It seems to be a trade off with any AD blockers. At least I just don't have to look at all that stuff.
Yes, I'm happy to help, would want to see the current or cleaned up (thus far) list and can then provide input.
All information and updates will be posted on the "Updating MSC Database" thread.

I know Spotcheckservices and Performaligics don't exist any more. Might only be of interest to Canadians

I must have missed something. I never remembered this forum turning into a war zone.
I sent Jacob a message to change my name and never heard back
