Moe's Southwest Grill Prizes is this a joke

I received an email about a dine in shop at a popular southwest grill! It said it is an on-the-spot reward shop which means we will ship the materials you'll need to conduct the shop. What does this mean? What kind of prize do I need to do a dine in shop that pays $8 with a $15.50 reimbursement. I ain't wearing no sombrero.

You are required to order either
Homewrecker Burrito or Bowl
Regular Burrito or Bowl
Quesadilla
Salad
Stack (Mexican wrap)
-
After you place your order you will then add either guac or queso inside the item (not as a side order) along with "extra protein" (chicken or steak).

**If you are assigned to these shops, we will FedEx ship the prizes to the address listed in your Shopper Profile.

I haven't done one of these in a long time (more than 5 years ago). But it usually was related to a place that served Coca-Cola products. If this is the same company (based out of North Carolina), they also do a large chain of amusements parks as well during the summertime.

Basically you go up and order. If they UPSELL you and say the right things, there is a form to "award" them and you have to get the manager to sign it off. You leave the prize (sometimes gift cards).

It's basically on "on the spot reward" for a job well done. If they fail, there is a different form and you fill that out and manager signs that one and you ship back the prizes.

In today's word, I don't know why they just don't give a DIGITAL gift card and skip the shipping thru FedEX. It just costs more for the project, but maybe a PHYSICAL gift is more meaningful instead of telling the employee to check their email for a digital gift card.

I remember doing it at a burger place and the lady was so happy, she wanted to give me a hug.
@hbbigdaddy Great insight. Thanks for the info. That is probably it.

Like you say, they should do a digital gift card which means you bypass the shipping expense, shipping wait time, possible return costs, and they could funnel those costs into the prize or shopper's fee.
Let's be real...Any money they save on expenses will not be passed down to shopper or employee rewards. They will keep that at the top or lower their project cost to keep the client and not lose them to another MSC.

I considered taking one, but being a vegetarian I don't think the extra protein (chicken or steak) would work for me ????
I applied for one. I've done similar ones in the past for different MSCs - Boston Market, a fancy hamburger chain. It's usually a soft drink upgrade offer. No big deal. They either get the reward or they don't.

Agreed, it's a fairly easy shop and report. You do have to get the manager or someone there to sign one way or another. But they're not bad. And if you like the food, it's a quick few minutes to get a little bit of money and a meal.

No, you have to add either chicken or steak so if that's not something you would eat it's probably not worth it for you? Unless somebody at home would eat that.

There usually isn't a requirement to eat the food, it's more or less if the employee suggested an upsell or uses the current promotional phrase.

Give the food to the nearest homeless or should I say person how appears to be homeless.

A Dad shopping the Ark-LA-Tex and beyond.
I did a similar shop at a Popeye's Chicken pre-Covid. The had to actually state the drink supplier, as in "would you like to add a Coke" or "Pepsi". Would you like a drink, wasn't acceptable.

The employee asked if I wanted a drink and was upset when I asked the manager to sign the denial letter.

Another one at a different restaurant when I was looking for the upsell and had the rewards in pocket, and the manager dressed down the employee who didn't upsell the purchase.

I've done another where the employee hit all the points. The manager was more than happy to tell me all the employees that were on the shift that should get their reward. I think it was a gift card for their restaurant. But for a teen, free food, or free anything is EXCELLENT!

I had no problems in either situation, but just be aware, it might not be a pleasant experience.
I would ask the scheduler if extra tofu could be an acceptable option if you really wanted to do a shop and eat some of the fruits (or burritos) of your labor.
