Why can't this forum

fix the search function? Instead of searching for words, the result is message after message without any of the words searched for.

Thank you! I have felt so alone on this because in an old thread other posters said they get just the right results every time.
Can you give an example? I haven't had a problem¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@tstewart3 Since JacobJ is the owner of the forum, you might want to PM your concern to him. Also, because Stormcloud is helping Jacob with the IT portion of the "MSC Update", perhaps she can help you.

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

Search for Best Buy audits, using all words.

Results:
WILMINGTON, NC - 10-MINUTE Convenient Store Price Audits
Re: Shop Hold Pay - Self Assigned with a $5 Bump
Wytheville, Max Meadows, Galax VA - Short Convenience Store Price Checks - BARE Int'l
BARE Int'l - 15 Minute Convenient Store Price Check Audit - Wilmington
Re: Anyone still doing shops for Cirrus Marketing?
Re: STN Tobacco Shops
etc, etc

none of the results have anything to do with Best Buys Audits
Since I'm a total tech dunderhead, I always figured my search failures were my fault.

Thanks for the uplift! I am not alone!

If I don't find what I want with all the words, I try with less.

Best Buy Audits
Best Buy
Audits

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Some times it gives too many responses.
I have the same issue; infrequently I get what I'm looking for, most frequently I do not.

Then a poster chimes in "this was discussed recently, lots of good informstion out there, do a search" or "why don't posters do a search before posting?"

Well ... now you know the answer. We did but got results back in the search that don't map to inquiry. So .... we post a message.

It could be a poster has said something off topic or cited an example within the body of the messages that do appear, but you would never know it from the topics that appears.
Use the first search box, the one that says it is enhanced by Google. DO NOT USE THE SECOND SEARCH BOX that says it searches all words.

For the other options, I always choose to search all forums and all dates. Voila! Relevant search results! smiling smiley

I tried your sugestion about using only the first search box, BusyBee, and it worked!

In the past I had resorted to using Google Search and adding "mysteryshopfourm" as one of the search terms.
Glad it worked for you! I used to use the second box, too, figuring it was a good idea to search all words.
Another thing I sometimes try is selecting ‘exact phrase’ instead of ‘all words’. That can narrow the search.
