Pre-populated boxes that get in the way

This is a pet peeve of mine. There are some time and date boxes that will give you error after error until everything is entered. The other thing I am seeing and don't like is character minimums. (Yes, I found a free character-counter to pop my text into to see where I stand), but many of these answers do not need a 500 character blow-by-blow account. I feel like I am doing a 7th grade essay and trying to stretch it out. My college class in technical writing taught me brevity. Argh.

Journalism also teaches brevity, plus clarity. Boy, love those "simple declarative sentences"!

Absolutely, totally, 100% agreement here.
And all those character counting programs do is tell you how much fluff you need to add to the narrative.
If there is a character requirement, I wish:

1. They would make it clear so that I don't finish writing and THEN get notified that I didn't have enough characters in that text box.

2. They would tell me that there is a maximum character limit. Many times I have provided good details, but I get a message that I have exceeded the character limit.

Both of these are annoying time-wasters.

You must have shopped for Confero lol. smiling smiley
I dislike both character maximums and minimums. Certain time fields aggravate me to no end because they keep giving me error messages before I finish inputting all the data.
