Sign up with Coyle. Their reports are simple and quick. 15 minutes tops to run through their entire questionnaire. Easy, peasey.

Paula, do what I do and use the "Toggle User Visibility" and you won't have to see her posts or replies. I've found when someone is 95% snarky, and adds very little value, it's best to just not have to waste time reading what they post.

I did not realize this comment was only facetious until I read LuckyGirl's comment below.
The prep work required for the hotel shops and the report intensity do require a "self starter" mentality and willingness to put in the work in on your own.

Not being bothered to do a simple search on this site does not bode well if one wants to do hotel shops.
The hotel shops are indeed some of the most labor intensive of the shops. However, at another phase of my life, most of my mystery shopping involved either hotels or restaurants. Despite the effort, I helped fund a lot of little weekend roadtrips by doing hotel evaluations. I felt it was worth it, and I got what I wanted out of the effort since I couldn't afford to travel quite as much as I would have liked on my own dime. If you are looking for a free room, it is not that. You will definitely earn you keep, so you have to figure all that in.

There are not nearly as many hotel shops out there as there are some of the other. You really do have to keep your eyes on the boards and jump when they have something that floats your boat. As other mentioned, Coyle does have a certain number of hotel shops. I would suggest taking some of their lower end shops before springing for a hotel. They are indeed labor intensive, and you really do want to have a good handle on what they expect of their reports before you spend a lot of your own money out of pocket. There is a very real risk of not being reimbursed if the shop is rejected, and the risk is even higher if you haven't worked with any given company before. There have been other forum discussions on hotel shops. If you do a search, you will find a lot of good information.

So my post was removed but a post giving false information (sarcasm/ being snarky) is just fine??

ok, I am new here. Any guidance on searching -- I put hotel and hotels into the search box for all forums and only got about 5 results -- 3 referring back to this post and 2 others that just happened to mention hotel. Is there a trick to searching on here? TIA
There was a thread about how to best search the forum a month or so back, search for it.

Sorry, just kidding. It said to basically use the top box which I think says Google search or something that seems counter intuitive to me.

I just did a search for hotel and hotels and there were too many results for me to hunt down the link you're looking for.

Select search messages, not Google. First scroll down and select all dates. It reverts to past 30 days and as you saw, not much in last 30 days.

I've done hotel shops for SQM (ones that just reimburse half the price of room) Easy report though.

And for Service with Style. That chain might only be in Canada. Again easy report, and they reimburse the room price plus a small fee.

I did a mystery shop at a hotel that wasn't a chain, can't remember the company.
As always, what helped me the most was signing up with every company and checking job boards.
Then I learned what got posted when and where. And then they switch companies¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyone doing hotel shops from Coyle? I had plenty of work with them last year, including some really nice resorts! I have been declined the past 10 shops I've applied for. Hard not to feel like it's a personal issue at this point. My scorecard is top tier and I do other categories for them.
Curious if anyone else had a similar experience recently?

I have never done one. I'm finally at the point where I'm good at fine dining shops so I feel like I could try out a hotel shop. I've noticed that there are not very many on the board. I don't know if that typical or not because I'm newer to Coyle.

I'm wondering with your situation if there are just very few to go around. I have also been very curious about how their scheduling works. I have not done too many jobs with them but I've wondered in the past if they try to space out your jobs. For example, I recently applied for three restaurants and they were all a part of the same restaurant group. I got assigned one but I wonder if I had applied for three restaurant with three different groups/chains if I may have been accepted for two or three. At this point I have been assigned a second restaurant in the same group/chain after having completed one successfully. So far, I have not been assigned the same location for anything more than once. Anyway, I typed all this out as a rambling wondering of what their internal scheduling is like and what kind of limitations they might impose.

I recently read through their FAQs and it basically said that the choose people with the most experience and the best scores to fill the jobs. Maybe you just have really stiff competition.

Their unofficial policy *used* to be that you could not shop the same hotel twice, ever. Who knows if this is still true. I've never put an application in for a hotel I've previously shopped. For a short time I heard rumors that the same policy was being applied to restaurants as well. I know this is not being followed strictly at the moment as I have take out scheduled for today at a location I've completed several times over the past few years.

Wow, that would kind of kill shopping in your area unless they continue to add clients like crazy. I'm new enough to shopping and newer to Coyle that my own statistics are fairly meaningless.

Most of the fine dining restaurants on Coyle have a 1 year rotation, casual dining is 3 months although this might have been removed. At least this is what a scheduler told me once before the pandemic. As their fine dining reports are so detailed I usually come away saying I'm not doing that again and so only do one/month or so making it easier to get assigned. As for hotel the ones near me are first time guests only so no shopping a second time but they do say work up to these shops with other shops.
