Almost Got Hit The Other Day taking the Outside Sonic Picture

I visited a Sonic the other day.. It was located on a very busy street and at the time I went ,they were very busy..

While trying to take the outside picture of the building, I almost got hit..

Now why do they need a picture of the outside building????

Is it worth it??

Were you standing outside of your vehicle?
You’ve GOT to have situational awareness and keep your head on a swivel while taking exterior photos from a parking lot. Wear something light colored and try to stay near your car. I’ve had some close calls in gas stations, even with my neon vest.

Be extra careful at end of day. So many drivers check texts and emails as they’re circling a parking lot!

The editors pull the metadata from your cellphone photos and use it to verify location, date, and time. That’s the reason for so many of the exterior photos we are asked to take.

No I was inside of my car.

My phone was in my phone holder...

May be I shall have parked in the stall and then got out and taken the picture...

ETA: I think I read someplace that we can take the picture of the building from our car?

I never check my email or text anyone while I am driving!!!

There is NO need to get out of your car to take this picture. You either take it when first entering the drive-way or go to the furthest area in the lot and take from there.
Exactly HB. I try to take the front of the building pic when i first drive into the driveway, or I drive around the front when i have trouble finding a working drive in stall.

Does a receipt not provide that information?

I mean I get it for inquiry-only shops but Sonics are purchase shops with receipt required. I've done more Five Guys shops than I can count and I still haven't taken an exterior shot of one.

The few Sonic shops I've done since the new MSC took over, I took the photos from my car, sure, but considering I live in an overpopulated area that's turning into something out of Soylent Green (I'm moving in a few months thank you God), there's a slight risk you'll get rear-ended as you pause in the entrance drive. In my area, whether on the road or in a parking lot, you are under near-constant traffic pressure from behind. I might assume that risk if the fees were good but considering:

1. The fees for Sonic stink, at least where I am.
2. The food at Sonic is, well, you gotta be really hungry ... this added requirement is to me something of a deal-breaker for a low-pay shop with iffy food that I was marginally willing to do for the old MSC. Your mileage may vary.

What type of camera are you using ? If you get an ultra wide lens you can take building pictures much closer avoiding a lot trouble,
I am not sure, it is the camera that came with my phone.

I did not want too hold up traffic buy taking the outside picture when coming in or exiting. I do not want people to be honking at me either

May be one day, I will get lucky and there will be no cars behind me and I can get a picture of the building...

Yes I know we do not need to get out of the car and we can take it from inside the car but if they want the picture SO BAD then I may have to do that.. That is if I decide to do that location again.. I was in that area at the time and I decided to pick it up.

Waaaaait. You stopped your car in the middle is traffic?
There is a location I've done a few times that is on the corner of two very busy streets. Would never even THINK about taking a photo from there. I pull to the edge of the lot (NOT just stopping in the middle of the lot where people would be driving) and snap a photo that captures most of the front/ side. Seems to be just fine with the editors.
I think you are all making this shop way too difficult. I park in one of the first few slots on either side so I can see the front of the building and the employees as they walk out. I take my exterior photo while parked in the slot through my front windshield. I've NEVER had one rejected or questioned.
I just take one when I am parked in the stall. Definitely not the best picture but they don't seem to care.

ABSOLUTELY!!! One trick I've done was this. Now every Drive-In is different but here is what I do. I look for a stall on the "other side" of the store-- on the drive-through side of the store. So your driver's side window is facing (usually) the street and the Sonic roadsigns. If that isn't there, I will stop at an adjacent business prior to going in and take the picture there. Sometimes its tougher than others but the best advice I could give is (if the Sonic Sign is 12 on a clock dial), try to see if you can park at 4 or 5 and take the picture that way. Doesn't work every time but It has worked for me in the past.
I used to take the picture at the end. It was more difficult because I was having to look back, and I felt less secure about surrounding traffic. Now I take it when I first pull in. It is so much easier and safer, and I don't have to worry about forgetting afterward.
