Have you ever laughed at a shop offer on the phone?

I couldn't help myself when a scheduler called me for a restaurant shop. I took it seriously at first. The pay was $28. I asked for clarification, and they informed me it was with no reimbursement. The requirement was a beer and something else which would quickly amount to at least $20. I don't typically go to the restaurant because I don't like the food. The scheduler said they could offer a $3 bonus. And then I started laughing because wow, $3. For a shop I don't want to do. $3!!! I felt like they must not really care if it gets done.

I always am amused with restaurant shops where there is no fee but reimbursement only. With tip and what is required, the fee does not usually cover the meal. Plus you are often told what to order even if it does not suit you. I pass up on dining shops for the most part.
$28 pay + $28 reimbursement and i might think about it, even if it is Applebee's. $3 bonus that still isn't going to cover what I'm required to buy is still a 10 ft pole.

And yes, I have laughed at schedulers when they have offered me less than what I can get if I schedule it myself on their website.

I always reply with a hearty laugh and then say, "Whoa, you got me. For a minute I thought you were serious!"
I laughed at the Samantha people who used to call 5-10 times a day.

They don't call me now.

So it's a lose lose.

I was doing a lot of work, and enjoyed being able to negotiate a little bit higher pay for things.

I was even getting very generous offers one day and then the same day they'd offer less than half my usual rate.

No thanks!
I do not do restaurant shops at all. Mostly because they take ME an hour to drive one way, over an hour to dine and then an hour to drive home and usually 2 hours to fill out the report. That’s 5 hours of my time, plus the anxiety that goes with not being sure if I can remember ALL of the directions. I’d like to be paid at the least, $25/hour and FOOD doesn’t count because I don’t enjoy eating much of anything the older I get. And still, even then, I don’t think I’d take a restaurant shop even if they paid $150.
They just aren’t worth the hassle. Same goes with the Amusement shops. Too much work and not enough pay.

I don't take nearly as many restaurant shops as I used to. I just don't know why I am not enticed to lose money to eat food I don't want, for no pay, and a reimbursement that is not going to cover its required cost, while there really are things that I would totally enjoy on the menu, but I can't order them because they are not in the guidelines, and then go home and spend a couple hours on the report. Talk about a losing proposition.

Literally every reason you guys list is why I laughed while still on the phone with the scheduler. The shop in question is actually quite close to me, but I can't be arsed to order a cat-pee cheap beer and nasty appetizer. Whatever the restaurant and whoever the scheduler, let them suffer!
Suffering is good for the soul!
I was once on the pone with a MF overseas scheduler (I think they are out of the Phillipines) and the guy offered me an extra dollar like this was some kind of rare prize. I told him that in America a dollar barely covers a pack of gum.
Same shop is now with a $7 bonus.
I can't help but smile at that.
Still not done and I'm still not interested.
