Mattress Firm Shops

How are these shops? It says it could take up to an hour - is that true? Are pictures needed? We are in the market for a new mattress anyways so I figured I would make the most out of the trip.

The only picture required is the exterior photo. I have never been at one of these for over 30 minutes. I am usually the only customer in the store. The report is super easy.

Very easy, although the new reports want a couple of sentences for each section. Depends on how busy the associate is, but typically I'm in and out in 30 minutes or less.

I was at one for close to an hour (one time), I was the only customer in the shop, and I was berated by the editing staff for wasting the salesperson's time.

I did two Mattress Firm shops last month when they were MAO and I got $28 each. The report was very easy, and each took me about 45 minutes. This month I am doing Mattress Warehouse for $30 for a different MSC. Also an easy report but it requires GPS Verifier as well as a Time and Date photograph of the exterior. Easy peasy.

Shopping South Jersey, Southeast Pennsylvania, and Delaware above the canal since 2008

The one I did was next door to Five Guys. It was empty and the shop, start to finish, took 20 minutes.

They can be quick or they can be longer depending on customer traffic, which most of the time is very little. I don't mind the time since they usually leave you to relax on a bed while with others. The new report does require more written narrative, but it is still relatively easy as long as the shop pay is bonused nicely.

I've also done them for the other company and those were also easy. They were doing a bunch of different mattress stores. I'm guessing it was for a competitor. Geoverify and exterior photos and very low narrative report with that one. I don't see them any more around here.

They average 20 mins for me but the bonuses on them have not been what they were several months ago. I have not seen them over $15 anymore. I used go get them for no less than $25.

Longest I ever spent on one was 45 minutes, other times was much much less. Usually the stores are pretty empty, as the shops are done on weekdays which I suppose are not prime mattress-shopping days.

Like nhgirl1970 said though, the bonuses have gotten really stingy, haven't seen one for more than $15-$20 in months. Even the very risk of a one-hour shop means I'm not doing it for $15.

In-store is 20 to 30 minutes tops. Where I have had problems is when the employee doesn't do much of anything. I report as such, but the MSC typically hits me back for more details about what the employee was supposed to do. It's tough coming up with multiple ways to communicate that someone didn't do some expected behavior.

Have synthesizers, will travel...

Based on what I’m seeing here, I am doing one of these shops this week for $18. It’s only a few blocks from my house so I don’t even have to travel. Grateful for all of this input!

Back again to report my results. This was easy. Not sure I’d do it for the $10 base fee (unless I could combine it with another nearby shop) but for $18 it was worth it.

Pepper would have been in Thunder Cat mode. She would have hissed at the SA and hid under the desk. On the way home, she would have given me the Evil Eye.

@HonnyBrown - I love the stories about Pepper. I think she needs her own screen name for posting her thoughts. I believe many of us would love to see what she has to say. LOL
