Observati Secret shopper

I did not pay a fee and submitted my first restaurant review receiving my $45 plus $50 in gift cards yet no one has responded re. what are the gift cards for? Does anyone have experience that can answer my question? Thanks in advance.

Are they restaurant.com gift cards? If so those are usually a certain amount off your bill if you spend a certain amount. In other words, $25 off your $50 bill at a restaurant.

Not sure this is what you have though.

It helps if you list the mystery shopping company OR the place you did the work. You can NOT list both. Pick one and maybe we might have an idea of what you are talking about.

She put the MSC as the title.
I think its a HUGE red flag that you must pay $29.99 to sign up and then each following year for the "membership". There is a very long list of MSCs that are (and should be) free.
You might find this thread from last year useful. There is a guy who was encouraging people to sign up with them, but also says midway through the thread that the gift cards are "useless" and can't really be used.

It sounds like the OP received a fee for the shop and the gift cards are some sort of perk in addition, but as others have said, the gift cards seem to be very difficult to use. I think they may have been for hotel stays, but with lot of blackout dates?

There were a few legitimate companies that used to pay in gift cards for the specific restaurant shopped: Cheesecake Factory (sigh) and O'Charley's come to mind, but in general gift cards tend to be scammy.

From what I've read and heard, they are restaurants.com gift certificates. So in order to use them, you have to pay out of pocket part of the price. I got a bunch of them from a timeshare shop as part of the reward for showing up and I still can't use them and it's been years.
