What's happening in July?

The Marathon marathon continues for me. Am picking up heavily bonused shops others flaked on. Heading for Frankfort and Owenton KY in Friday to do 7 x $20. Packing a picnic lunch for me and the kids and will be back home in time for fireworks unlessssss.....Lexinton, Versailles and Richmond get flaked too. Thats another 16 x $20 with a motel (with a pool Daddy) for me and the kids. We just will turn it into a mini-cation. I take my mobile office including my printer just in case I have tp print paperwork Monday night. That would be an awesome way to wrap up the first week of July!!!

Friday I just did four bank teller shops and a McDonalds so only $47>50 plus lunch for the kids.

Got a used van this week for $800 and it paid for itself today at yard sales. Got a nearly new lift chair for my disabled wife for $75. They are around $700 new!. Got a desk and book case for daughter's room and a chest of drawers for my son. Got a small kitchen table to replace the card table. Hauled it all home in three trips in the van. wheeeeeeeeeeeee. And the kids spent $2.50 each and brought home more toys that make noiseeeeeeeee! Not so wheeeeeee. lol

I only have a few things on the calendar right now. Moving next week, Melody slated for surgery this week, JoAnne moving to her brother's house. Lots going on, so all the money I made in June will help carry us through. Will most likely wind up with more Marathon marathons for next quarter and I've begged for some closer to home. Then I'll go at the end of the quarter and get the bonused ones againnnnnn.

My July is already filling up too. It's a nice feeling to have shops scheduled this far in advance. Then at the end of the month, I can fill in on flaked shops and bonused shops. Life is good.
My July is very slow so far. The only things available in my area are the $4 Lowes and the $6 gas stations sad smiley
This week is the same for me, always jobs available the first week...doing my two Neiman Marcus today, not P/R, Bank can only do one a day, two sunglass (no purchase) party place, all mall in my town, Chipolte training Wed., couple restaurants, awaiting a few applied for, just about all I want to handle.

Live consciously....

I will be on vacation next week, so I lost a lot of work. I have some work for the second week. Therefore, not that great for me.
Two grocery stores today, bonused, with another with bonus next week. These are June shops, and the July ones are not yet posted. High end hotel shop tomorrow, with dinner and brunch. Another of same mid-month. Three video shops later in the week, plus 3 Chipotle spread out to do when I feel like it. Anticipating a large batch of medical phone shops that have yet to have the assignments finalized. Waiting for the 3rd quarter batch of video/audio shops to start posting to various MSC's boards. Last week I did a 2 day video road trip with 4 video shops plus travel funds. Will also pick up an oil change, as Hermoinie (my car) will be due about mid-month.

I have 8 video shops already scheduled and finish up 1 independent living shop. Hope the rest of the month is as good as the first.
Hello WJones - I hope you will be willing to share some information about video shopping. For these 8 video shops you have scheduled, do you have to travel away from home overnight? What types of businesses are video shopped? Have you seen an age demographic that would prevent an older shopper from getting work? How long have you been video shopping, and has the income from video shopping met your expectations?

July is slow for me thus far, I took it that the schedulers were on vacation and will hit it hard on tomorrow.
Attractive shops are geographically scattered and there seems to be fewer of them than usual. I noticed the same downturn in volume last summer.

I started serious video shopping about 4 months ago even though I had done several for different companies since 2005. First off I am in a area that supports video shopping more than other areas. I shop within 60 miles of my home in Boynton Beach Fl. I have not shopped where I had to stay over night yet but if the money was right would not hesitate to do so. Most of my work is for apartments or new home sales. I can not answer the questions on age because I am not sure. As far as payment goes I make more money because I own my equipment both audio and video. The pay is better than most other shops starting at around $60.00. I am at the point in my shopping career that I rarely do a shop for less than $35.00. Like I mentioned before though I am in a great area for shopping which allows me to be pickier. I have some bank shops I still do because they are so quick and the paperwork is minimum. I do those to fill in the blanks and to cover gas. If you are considering video shopping I suggest you do a few for BARE or Ellis and use their equipment to see if you are suited for this type of shop. If all goes well you can buy your own equipment and pick up the extra money for ownership.
MDAVISNOWELL,
Since I am a 66 year old video shopper, I can address the age question, I think. I have done every sort of videos except age compliance shops where you have to be younger than about 26. One of the fastest growing parts of the housing industry is for "active over age 55" subdivisions. Other fast growing markets are those for assisted living and dementia care. All of those prefer shoppers who can portray themselves as at least 55 years of age. I have often done "first time home buyer" targeted communities by pointing out that those are also places where people my age would buy as we downsize. I have scenarios that make it possible for me to convince a sales agent that I need a 5 bedroom, 3 car garage new custom home. Because video shops pay so much more, I can be very picky about what other shops I do. So, I seldom go to the bank unless someone is paying me to do so. The same with a large chain of grocery stores where I would normally shop anyway, and with the Chipotle restaurants, the place where I get hair cuts and perms, and the oil change places. My other shopping is hotels and time shares, where the perks appeal to me: tons of frequent sleeper points, gift cards, free food and drink without onerous reports, and a chance to explore an area of interest to me.

If you are an accomplished and reliable video and audio shopper, you will get jobs that never go onto the MSC's job boards. The companies will call out to you when their shop orders arrive and negotiate extra fees, even for travel that does not take you away from home overnight.
