How do you order your 5 GUYS

5 Guys is one of those shops that I have never tried, because the MSC will not let me see the guidelines until after I accept the shop. I would definitely need to see the shop requirements and at least know the menu purchase requirements before considering 5 Guys.

You can buy anything on the menu, there are no restrictions, but they only reimburse $17.50. So you have to choose wisely. Other than that there are time of day restrictions, but you know that before you accept the job, and you can't do more than one meal time per day. So if you were really desperate to eat five guys food, you could do lunch, dinner, and late night (which is the defined as the last 30 minutes they are open, doesn't matter what time of day it is), not at the same store, you would have to go to three different stores. When I first started doing five guys they made you take pictures of the food, but they don't ask for that anymore. The only photo requirement is the receipt.

All of the discussion about toppings and the cost of a 5G meal makes we wonder why 5G does not set "standard toppings" that are available in a lower sandwich price, and charge extra for each "premium topping" like they do for cheese?
Right now you pay for the works whether you want it or not.

Similarly, if you order too many mix-ins in a shake, you can't complain that it's too thick.

I order a veggie sandwich with extra mushrooms, grilled jalapenos instead of green peppers, hot sauce, and pickles on the side (so they don't get soggy if I don't finish the sandwich at the restaurant).

Sometimes I get a grilled cheese with tomatoes, mushrooms and grilled jalapenos, but a couple of times they didn't grill it in a single piece (as you'd expect grilled cheese to be) and I ended up with raw jalapenos and tomatoes sitting in between two pieces of cheesy bread. I've stopped ordering so many toppings since I wasn't sure if they were cooking it as best they could and felt guilty complaining about it.

Always get Cajun fries.

I haven't ordered a BLT in a while, but last time I did, I got quite a bit more bacon versus ordering a veggie sandwich with added bacon.

I did my first 5 Guys shop today. It was eat-in. I ordered a veggie without mushrooms. I did enjoy the food after I wiped the excess salt from the fries, but the food was very expensive. It was easy to stay within the reimbursement allowance. There were a lot more narratives required than other shops I've done for this MSC. Several were redundant.

How do u get these shops and how are they reimbursed? Are there any shops that give u a credit balance to review these shops and still get paid for them?

If I were u I’d order the cheese burger with Mayo raw onions and bbq sauce! Cajun fries extra crispy and a strawberry Oreo cream and Reese’s peanut butter shake!!
U won’t regret it!

I'm not sure what your first paragraph is asking, but they don't give you the purchase money in advance.

And you can't order the fries extra crispy on the shop.

You don't have to write much in each narrative section. I've never found them excessive. And yes, they are expensive, but they seem to do OK. And of course, you are not allowed to take prices into account on your shop.

@da_nosey_lady, Yes, what MisterBill said, you pay for the food and get reimbursed up to the stated limit once your report is approved.

You cannot ask for the fries extra crispy. Your shop will be rejected if you do. You also cannot ask for the burger to be more or less done than what their standard is. You have to time how long it takes, which is why you cannot make those types of modifications.

Is there any way to give feedback to the msc? I've been trying different order combinations and i think only a hot dog or grilled cheese is able to get me under the reimbursement. If the assignment includes a milkshake, the milkshake costs $1 more than their max reimbursement. So in total we are now talking $3-4 beyond the comp.

They know what it costs. Eventually, they will increase the reimbursement again, but it went up recently. I can currently stay under the reimbursement if I order a small hamburger, a small fry, and a small drink, plus the 6.625% NJ sales tax. At some locations, I can order a large drink. Why order a large drink if I can refill the regular drink? If there is a % back on a credit card, I want to maximize the amount I spend as long as I stay fully reimbursed or only a little over.

The maximum reimbursement started the year (2023) at $15.45. I think it went up to $17.25 in early May. In May, $17.25 covered more items, but the stores began raising prices. I hope that we are close to another reimbursement increase.

This is not my experience at all. They have one set reimbursement amount across the country, and it does not cost $17.25 in New York. It is normally over $20 for me. I lose over $3 on the milkshake offering when ordering delivery once I add in a tip and tax. I lose about $2 ordering in-store. @hotsauce1 may be in a high-cost area where the one-size-fits-all approach fails. Depending on how much the pay rate is and where you are located, you could easily lose money on these. The MSC really fails to calibrate its approach.
