Guessing it depends on the contract between MSC and client.
It would appear that the company doing gas stations is committed to shopping all locations for the various brands, and open ones will continue past deadlines with ever-increasing bonuses. I live for gas station loops to remote areas, and have enjoyed my highest-grossing months thanks to bonuses, often some crazy big. I had a gas station/grocery store and a gas station debrand that both paid $100 for about 20 minutes onsite.
Other companies indicate they have a quota of locations to fill, and open shops will go away once its met.
Those would seem to be the two extremes, with others falling in the middle?

I love the gas stations also. I was speaking more about Sonic than anything. I know I did not specify. I saw at least 30 within 100 miles of me that just went away because they have to be done monthly and no one in their right mind would drive 100 miles for a $12 bonus. No big deal, just wondering why the company would not add more in the way of bonuses knowing these were remote locations.
I got a Sonic with a $26 bonus. And I forgot to look yesterday to see if they increased the bonus on the remote locations. I wasn't going to drive 50 miles for Sonic anyway..
Certain shops are quarterly and NOT monthly. Some companies are too cheap to pay bonuses. I offered a very reasonable amount for a bonus on a shop due 9/30 and was told NO. So they let it go unfilled. Morons! But that is their choice. BTW, my offer was under $20 for the shop, but they like to do REIMBURSE ONLY and so many clowns will gladly help the MSC get rich and get nothing for their efforts.
I do appreciate the "i" company because they do escalate the bonuses closer to the deadline. Getting a $26 bonus for a Sonic (on top of the $9) is pretty nice. They also escalate the Panda Express shops. Looking forward to the day when the "i" company takes this client away from the current MSC.

They only went to $12 because at least one had already been done for those locations.
I once got a sonic with a $60 bonus. I just happened to be passing through a pretty remote town!
Man...I thought this was gonna be about FOOD leftovers. So disappointed!
Speaking of nice bonuses, did anyone catch the $100 bonuses this past week for a few remote Red Lobster locations? One was in the UP in Michigan. Hopefully a shopper was planning on being there for a vacation anyway and made some good money on top of getting a meal out of the deal!

I hate that our Red Lobster closed during the pandemic. The good news is that a steakhouse is going in its place. This steakhouse might be shopped more than occasionally.
