Texas Roadhouse shops

I live in a medium sized city with two TR locations. There's a large group of people who live in this city who belong to a Facebook group designed to discuss local restaurants.
This city is a little unique among US cities in that there's quite a few independent restaurants compared to chains....so this group discusses all the local restaurants all the time.
Chains aren't discussed much obviously....except for TR.
Everyone once in awhile somebody asks for a recommendation of a restaurant where you've never had a bad meal.
TR comes up all the time and takes this vote. In hundreds of people in the group, no one has ever had a bad meal there. I've never had a bad meal at TR and I have shopped their locations all over the US.
I believe their MS program works....it's a model for other chains who can't be counted on to consistently deliver a decent meal.

On the other hand, I see people on here complain all the time about Raising Canes. They are perfect in my area. I cannot find a fault. I have to give the management the credit.

Never had a bad meal at TR? What bubble are those folks living in? I get tough steaks, overly salty green beans, itty bitty baked potatoes, waitresses who are too busy gossiping to bring food, check drinks, or checks quite often. My good experiences at TR are not the norm, unless a manager gets involved. Then I either get my meal remade, a gift certificate for an entire meal, or I get what I was served for free. I can count on one hand the times they've done everything right and we got good food.

@Morledzep...that's just Alabama :-P

I do agree their food is overly salty. I have done about 10 TR because they are not in urban Los Angeles area. Closest one is Corona and Oceanside which is not convenient to metro LA.

But I can say I usually am pleased with my service. I might have had one average visit, but no terrible visits. I think the ownership/management style has much to do with it. I think I read something about how employees are involved with profit sharing, so there is more incentive to try harder.

@HonnyBrown...The RC is franchised. So different experiences at different locations. It's not the standard service you get at In N Out which are all company owned and tightly monitored. I have never had a bad experience personally at RC, but I have seen some people complain on here about them. But most of the complaints are about the MSC and under-reimbursement offered (similar to Five Guys).

Before the Nikster deleted my account, I completed many dozen TRH assignments. After that, I continued dining at the Roadhouse, combining my military discount with an equal percentage off on Mondays. In all, and over six locations, I do not have any recollection of being served a sub par meal. My only dislike is the noise.

It's a shame to hear that TR has some locations that serve subpar meals.
Perhaps those need to be shopped more often to pinpoint the issues.
I will say that the report doesn't focus on meal quality, mostly it's about service.

All of those that serve good meals, the ones I am referring to -are up and down the east coast of the US...from NY to FLA.

I did my first one last month and thought the food was great. I don't order steak maybe that is why. You can't beat the bread though!

I've had similar experiences at TR for my birthday dinners at the Menifee, CA location. In Phoenix, AZ, and in TX when we were still driving back and forth. Though I will admit for the record, that no one in AL has a clue to what real customer service is or should be. I gave the only waitress who has exhibited or even tried to offer good service in any restaurant we've been to here an extra $10 cash tip.

I am a generally pleasant person, but I'm far from pretty or skinny. I suffer from resting @#$%& face, most servers and all customer service reps in most industries avoid dealing with me. My boys always told me that their girlfriends were afraid of me. If there is any one person in a restaurant or a store that is going to get bad service, it's me. I'm hard to miss, I wear bright colors, I never wear black, I'm a "big" woman, but it's absolutely amazing how invisible I can become in a hardware store.

It's funny because I've only had a good meal once at TRH in my areas from years of shopping them. Canes used to be really fast and good but in my areas, they are getting so slow.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.

I have to agree... never had a bad meal at at TRH. It was actually my first job and how I learned about mystery shopping in the first place. The previous city I lived in was known for bad service and even the TRH there was such a breath of fresh air compared to every other restaurant. My only complaint is that none of them seem to do line dancing anymore. When I worked there I had no choice but to do it and we danced at least 3 times per night.

There is no such thing as "a little unique".

My single biggest peeve in the plethora of heinous abuses committed against the English language on a daily basis.

The word means "one-of-a-kind". Look it up.

There are no levels to it.

Something is either unique, or it is not.

TIA moving forward for using "peculiar", the correct word for what you were trying to express.

And yes, in case you were curious: I'm a pedant.

The chicken is outstanding-- though if they herbed up the breading it would be even better-- still very good just salt and no herb flavors on the breading. The canes sauce is the bomb and it really makes the chicken even better.. BUT everything sucks. Texas bread meh, corrugated ripple cut extremely processed pale fries that have NO potato taste, cold slaw usually has a funny taste. If buying for myself I just buy the tenders and cane sauce.

I was so impressed with TR that i bought stock. It is now up 75% from when I bought it.

I find the food salty, but I find most restaurant and prepared food salty. Other than that, they are at the top of their game in their price range.

Really? I did a Texas Roadhouse assignment, only once, and it was terrible. The ribs were burnt and it was like eating shoe leather. Everything was cold and not good. That was enough for me to decide to never eat at a TR again, even if I was reimbursed.

I agree. Almost every place I eat overdoes the salt.

Ribs are not the thing to get there.

The things to get are either steaks, chicken fried chicken, BBQ chicken, or lemon herb chicken, side salads with Italian dressing, and chili.

Lol really? You guys are eating at the wrong TRH. Seriously the best ribs I've ever had at a chain restaurant. They literally fall off the bone. Also, I agree their salads are the best.

No matter what you order, if it's not to your satisfaction, just tell the manager that comes by your table (it's part of the shop and they will remove the piece of tape from the table when they visit) and they will make sure they make it right by either cooking you another steak or any of their other offerings. And they'll let you keep whatever was incorrectly cooked in a doggy bag.

Or ask for a manager, who will make it right, no questions asked. Well, I guess they'll ask what's wrong.

Or at least that's been my experience.

I have been offered complimentary meals because my meal was so badly botched. I never ask for replacement food in any restaurant, cooks and servers are some of the pettiest people anywhere.

Most of my TRH experiences have been great but I did have a random situation that was not good. Our food (regular steaks) took over 40 minutes when they weren’t crowded. When the waitress finally had the food, she stopped and had another 4-5 minute conversation with another employee before she came to deliver our food. We literally watched her come out, have the conversation and then came directly to our table.

I've been doing mostly bar shops. Haven't had any major issues. Usually minor such as natural variation in tenderness of the steak or size of the potato. These are not variables the restaurant can control. Most I could quibble about is the slightly overdone rolls or overcooked mushroom/onion topping.

I gotta point out, if I go to a restaurant known for steak, I order steak.

I would point this out to the manager that visited your table once you had your meal. You might have gotten a comped meal because of it.

Did one of these shops. It was OK. DH felt the steak was tough and dry. Bread was yummy but I would ask for regular butter. Chicken was good. Baked potatoes, veggies, appetizers and dessert were good if I recall correctly.

I have NEVER been to Texas Roadhouse= today a handyman who did a great job at my house who I recommended to a friend who also hired him left me a $50 gift card so gonna try it out- not a shop so no report. Any suggestions. as to what is good to order? Also how do I get the military discount. My anniversary is coming up so may go there .And can anyone give me the first letter of the MSC that shops these as if it is good I May do a shop!
