I bought both mine and my son's traffic safety vests for less than $5 each on Amazon. His is orange, mine is yellow. I also have some neon orange yarn that I've been thinking of using to crochet a traffic vest or sweater all I would have to add is reflective tape.
My yellow one is some kind of vinyl or poly something. It's got pockets for days, big ones, small ones, 3 or 4 on top of each other. Some with zippers, some with Velcro. It's a godsend when the weather takes a sudden turn, my head is almost always covered (old habits die hard, work means my hair is tied up and covered), and the traffic vest makes a great sleeveless rain jacket. I can slip the tablet under the vest to keep it from getting wet and my phone fits into more than half of the pockets with loads of room to spare. Here is a link to the one I bought 8 years ago. It costs a little more now, but it's more than worth the price.
