Citgo $8

What am I missing here? These are listed as $8 "Mystery Shops" without reimbursement. 12 pictures are required and a convenience store purchase and several narrative answers. Did I mention NO reimbursement? And the pictures are all over the station - dispensers, canopy, building, signs, etc etc. Is taking unrevealed pictures all over a gas station a "mystery shop"? Sounds more like an audit to me. Who is doing these for $8? I see them post and then get snatched up in my area, its just so strange to me.

There are several types of Citgo shops. Every time I think I've seen them all, I see a new one. This last round I got confused in the app and selected by mistake the shop you described. Thinking I had selected the one that evaluates a credit card purchase, I added the shop to a route I already had planned. I get to the station and pull up the job in the app, and imagine I surprise when I realized I had selected the wrong type of job. Of course it was my mistake, so I proceeded with the job. It was a nightmare to complete, all covert mind you, trying to be slick about taking photos all over property without being noticed. Not to mention trying not to get hit by vehicles zooming into the small parking area. I got it done and was paid. I'll definitely be more careful going forward because I do not want to inadvertently select that type of shop again.
Citgo shops are 10 ft poles until the pay goes over $15. The only folks who do these are folks that are new to mystery shopping who think they have to take what the companies are offering, and folks who don't know their worth.
$8 is not worth taking all of those pictures to me. Then, whatever you buy for the receipt comes off the $8.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
That MSC can go jump in the lake with these $7 no reimbursement for their Citgos. I thought the other one that reimburses up to a buck for a small item purchase in store was ridiculous. I did one location for over $20 and the restroom was outside where you have to request a key. How eager is the clerk going to be to hand over the key to some nutcase who spent 25ยข on a lollipop? Many months after doing it, I was going to be in the area doing some other shops so I reached out to the contact and offered to do it for the over $20 price I had done it before when they were going for a whopping $9.

The lady replied back saying she couldn't do it at that price and basically said I don't know that we've ever paid that much for a shop. I just shook my head and thought when you're going to lie, know the score before you open your mouth.

If I was next door, I wouldn't do this shop for them at base. Like someone else said, they have other type of shops that have a reimbursement.
If you can wait it out, they sometimes get to $10.

Also, there's no gas purchase required or reimbursement. But you do need pictures of a pump, topper, curb and bollard if I recall correctly.
ok, so they get feisty and raise them to $10. You must make a purchase in the store and its not reimbursed. So lets assume thats $2. Now you are down to $8. And then you must "covertly" walk around this gas station and take photos of just about everything, including a dispenser. If you aren't getting gas, why are you standing in front of a dispenser taking pictures of it? Its all just so silly to me. Call it an Audit, reimburse the purchases and pay the going rate for this type of project. Citgo is a $24B company, they can certainly cover it.

My above post was meant tongue in cheek.

They did have an open box (like those you'd buy in a grocery store) of microwave popcorn and they sell the individual packets for $1 each. I can't recall if they charge tax on it or not.

And I agree, what are you doing at the fueling island if you aren't buying gas. I also agree that most of the ones I've actually done, have about 5 additional required pictures.

1. Small Mike & Ike or Now n Later are usually 25-50 cents. Single mints, Tootsie Rolls or Jolly Ranchers if they have a bucket at the counter are 10-25 cents. 5-stick gum packs are 50cents. Cheap brand cheese crackers, usually under a dollar.

2. As the quarter wears on, the MSC is more open to fee negotiations. Especially for way-out-there locations and routes.

3. Don't walk the gas station, drive it. Do the store thing first. When you get to your car open both windows to take pics out of both sides. Drive a lap around the lot getting most of the pics. Pull up to a pump for the photo there. But not too close. Or take the pic of the pump to your right if the distance is better. Zoom in for the security seal/infractions pics.

4. Drive off the lot but nearby (in case you need to go back for a missed/blurry pic). Fill out the form, cropping photos first if any of your car parts are in there.

Worst case, you've got the LOA if you need it.
You can buy what us old folks call "penny candy" for anywhere from 5 cents to 25 cents at every Citgo station I've ever been in. My favorite used to be Laffy Taffy.
