STK shops

I noticed the steak shops are now application only. I wonder why they took away the self assigned feature. I am pretty on top of my email notifications so I'm a little sad now that I can't assign them to myself.

The most logical reason is that they want to control who can get them. They don't just want any clown self-assigning these. It could also be a popular thing (supply and demand). I see the BJ's Brewhouse is also "apply" and not self-assign.

These are not Panda Express, Chevron, Pizza Hut, Sonic shops where they have 5000 locations to fill and the writing standards are lower. These clients expect better written reports and maybe the MSCs are finding that quality level has been lower.
@Mellifluy...but like you...I'm on my notifications and appreciated being able to grab shops instantly when posted. So it is frustrating to play the "hope/wait" game.

I self-assigned a BJ's last night. It wasn't off of an email; I was going through my regular run of checking job boards and saw it listed. Perhaps it's a franchisee thing.

If your path dictates you walk through hell, do it as though you own the place. -unknown
Yeah, I got the thanks for applying.... but no. I haven't gotten any of the restaurants that I've had to apply to for this MSC so I'm not too hopeful about getting more of these jobs.

Does Texas Roadhouse show up as self-assign?

I'm not too sure. There aren't any that are too close to me so I haven't looked.
I was hoping someone in this thread would talk about the STK shops and how they are. In my area shops get taken almost immediately but the one for STK does not seem to. How is that shop? Is there a reason they do not get snapped up?
I've shopped it many times in LA, in San Diego, and in Vegas. The shops are rather simple, especially if you're used to fine dining. Reservation (over the phone), host, server, pictures of food, and a brief evaluation of the food. The reimbursement usually covers the meal requirements, and the pay is decent for the work involved. It's always been nearly impossible to get the LA shops, they're in high demand. Other locations (San Diego for eg) are easier to snatch usually.
It's not traditional fine dining though. It's more hipster and club setting. At least the one in Vegas. Nothing like having loud, club music playing and making it hard to communicate with your party or the server.

I visited years ago and remember it being a really nice steakhouse with unbelievable popovers. I guess the whole chain has changed a ton.

I've only been to the one in Las Vegas in the Cosmopolitan. I was not impressed with the ambience. I would rather go to a "traditional" steakhouse. I don't want to struggle to converse with the waiter or my guest(s).

Description when putting it in google is

STK is not your daddy's steakhouse, combining a modern steakhouse and chic lounge into one vibe dining experience with delivery, catering, and private event ...
I remember doing dinner jobs at the Yard House where the music was so loud I could not hear a word the server was saying and I had to report what they said for the report. After that if I did that job I always chose a lunch time job when it was much quieter inside. So maybe I will skip this place.

If you go for an early dinner on a weeknight, it will be less crowded and not too crazy. One time, I went to STK on a weekend evening. It was your usual hip, loud establishment. All of a sudden, it got even louder and servers came out carrying sugary shot glasses and started dancing on tables. Somehow it turned from a steakhouse to a club. It was amusing, but I wouldn't want to go there for a romantic night out.
Thanks for that description. It sounds as tho it might be exciting to go there perhaps with ear plugs, but definitely not on a mystery shop trying to keep track of what and when things happen. . I remember now at Yard House in addition to the loud music they also had big screen tv's everywhere blasting the current sports games on top of the music and loud chatter from large groups of half drunk friends. I guess I am showing my age but I did not even like that stuff when I was young. .

This was many years ago. Any of the locations I've been to in the last few years seem to have the new "modern" vibe. STK in Vegas at the time I visited was was very much a traditional steakhouse, no DJ, etc.

STK is one of my company's favorite for corporate lunches. It is beautiful, calm and delightful during these hours. Food is delicious. Most of the clientele are business people. However, my DH and I contemplated going one weekend for dinner. DDs warned us about it being a club atmosphere and that we would not enjoy. So thankful for them and their advice but....they love it.
There’s one under construction here so I’ll have to watch the boards. What is the reimbursement?
