Tobacco shops

Hello,

I’m new in the US, coming from Canada.

I was wondering if there are some tobacco and/or vape mystery shops/price audits across the country? I’m not talking about compliance shops.

If yes, which company is scheduling them?

Thanks!

Welcome! Too bad it's not compliance your looking for, there are loads of those! We had Juul shops a few years back but those have stopped. There had also been some merchandising assignments for Njoy but I haven't seen those either of late. I hope someone else has better news for you. Sometimes, different areas of the country have entirely different projects, MSCs and clients. Good luck!
Back in tihe 70s my Aunt was connected to a company, unsure if the actual client or MSC. She'd receive a carton of cigarettes in white packaging, different flavor each time She'd have to review. One time she got banana. She said they were getting feedback for future blending.

Shops like getting to smoke in a hookah lounge or cigar bar...havent ever seen those.
What I’m specifically talking about, is that tobacco companies like Rothmans Benson & Hedge or Imperial Tobacco hires mystery shoppers to check the prices of the cigarettes in convenience stores and they would then give gift cards to the clerks.

Have you ever heard about something like that?
There are shops where you buy particular brands and report the prices, covertly. You are reimbursed for the cigs and paid a small fee. The ones I've done had about 5 packs to buy and/or chewing tobacci (ugh). There was no gift cards for the clerk as far as I know. It was at random gas stations and convenience stores.

There were some shops in October that required going to a convenience store (any one - shopper's choice) and getting prices (and photos) of a specific brand/type of cigarettes, and then the store's least expensive and most expensive brands. It paid really well. There wasn't a purchase, and gift cards weren't involved.

The same series of shops were done for the other types of tobacco products as well (snuff, pods, etc.) The client was JTI.

I Probably Should Offer Something - I got the feeling it was a one-time project. I never saw them before that or since.

Good luck.
