I have enjoyed all of the fun on this thread! You would think that a lot of the stuff that we have to do would "give us away." But, on the other hand, consider this...
During the entirety of 2023 I did the "sneaky" hotel visits for Bestmark. I visited the same 6 hotels on 3 different days each week. At 4 of the locations I must walk either directly past the front hotel desk, or quite near it. At the other 2 hotels I often encounter hotel staff, although I can get away without being near the front desk. The same 6 hotels each round, for 3 rounds per week, for 52 weeks. That's 900+ individual visits. On only 4 visits in 2023 did anyone say anything to me about my picture taking of the hotel event boards, and in 3 of those visits the person that said something didn't work at the hotel. No front desk person has ever stopped me to ask why I am in their hotel regularly for a grand total of 3 minutes per visit. NONE. I have to walk directly past a staffed security desk for one of my visits, and all that I ever heard from any of them was a "good morning." There is one young woman that I swear works 7 days per week at the front desk, and she looks at me every time I enter the hotel. She has never said a word to me.
Maybe it's easier than we think to remain unnoticed.
