Olive Garden

Hey, y'all.

The Big "Eye" on the Sassie side just put out some Olive Garden lunch shops for the 25th-28th. I'm sure they'll fly quickly. $8 pay, plus up to $30 reimbursement.

Order requirement is one of the following:
Lasagna Classico
Tour of Italy
Chicken Alfredo
Chicken Alfredo with Broccoli

Plus, there is also either a cocktail or appetizer required, depending on which location. (Mine was a cocktail.)

If your path dictates you walk through hell, do it as though you own the place. -unknown

That's too bad, Service. I'll have a breadstick in your honor.

@drdoggie00

thanks for the heads up. i grabbed a dinner. i did not see a lunch.

not sure why the sassie notifications were not sent out. At least iit was self-assign

dinner was this weekend OR next weekend.

One entree of the 4 options and 1 appetizer. Guess it's date night with wifey. Not enough to feed family of 4.
I saw these on the job board and it was an easy pass for me. I will not shop a restaurant I am not crazy about when the reimbursement isn't even close to covering the cost of the meal and I must order certain items.
@BusyBeeBuzzBuzzBuzz

Dinner was $50. You don't think you might come close to even when reimburse is $50 for 1 entree/1 appetizer/tax/tip?

I agree lunch at $30 would not be worth it. But I can feed wifey and my youngest for the $50. I don't eat OG. But they love it. Might as well do it for them.

@hbbigdaddy The ones I saw were lunch shops -- and drdoggie00's post that started this thread was also about lunch shops.
The topic is called Olive Garden. Granted he was telling us he saw LUNCH. But i saw dinner and grabbed it instead.

i agree i would NOT do lunch with much smaller reimbursement

Are we even allowed to take a guest on these shops? It doesn't specify at all other than it says order ONE entree from the list.
@dafizisblue

I have not read the guidelines yet. But if they are expecting solo diner...i will drop the shop. I'm not going to eat. I will do the observations and pics. This is more for my wife. OG is the mcdonalds of Italian food.

When you ask people about OG...the first thing I always hear is "unlimited breadsticks and salad." I guess if that is important to you...okay. But that is not something that gets me excited.

I'm NOT saying OG is terrible...I'm just saying they are the biggest chain of Italian (that I am aware of) and popular with lots of people. But they are not known for excellent Italian cuisine. So I am happy to do the shop and make my wife happy without giving them my $.
I saw one in Birmingham. There are at least 2 other Olive Gardens closer to me, I'm guessing someone saw the shops before I went looking. Oh well.

Thank you. Just make sure to dip it in the salad dressing. I'll be very satisfied then. smiling smiley
-makes a face- Salad is the devil, Service. I’ll dip it in my soup and we’ll call it even. grinning smiley

My first post was not addressed to you and was not about dinner shops. I was responding to this thread and the original post, which was about lunch shops with a $30 reimbursement.

It was odd that you acted like I was talking about dinner shops or thinking that $50 was insufficient for one entree and one appetizer plus tax and tip. Then, even after I explained that I was talking about lunch shops, you still felt the need to make it about dinner shops and justify your decision to take the shop.

No one is saying $50 is not enough reimbursement for the dinner shops or questioning your decision to take one.

It's not always about you. Being narcissistic and defensive at the same time is not a good look. Stop it already.

I got a lunch shop. Lunch and dinner periods were posted. I’m good with the choices, party of one. Easy report and I will come in under reimbursement, including tax and tip. Plus, I’ll have leftovers.
And with the potential of a free dessert!

I'm probably shooting myself in the foot, though. My mother will try to say that this counts as my upcoming birthday meal. -rolls eyes-

Having to do a shop for your birthday meal? Ick. I would probably make hubby cook a steak for me instead. Happy early birthday!

Happy early Birthday.

There was a time I would have considered Olive Garden a nice birthday meal. Then, I tried superb food, and realized I was wrong. smiling smiley [Breadsticks still rock!]
Thanks, Service! I’m a simple girl who lives out in the sticks, so I’m more Olive Garden, Cheddars, and Roadhouse than I am fine dining, and I’m okay with that. smiling smiley

The thing I find weird about this shop, especially the lunch shop, is that the reimbursement is clearly only meant to cover one person. But we have to say we're celebrating a birthday or anniversary. I don't typically celebrate anything with a solo meal out. LOL.
i did an Olive Garden last year. The service was horrendous. The server had such a who cares attitude. Came to the table with a pickle pus. Did not suggest anything- I was thinking with her look that she would suggest us to leave as she could care less! LOL I never got to say I was celebrating anything as she never came back to the table long enough to do say anything. The food was eeeh! and the thing that ticked me off was 8 servers standing shooting the breeze in an alcove in a nearly empty restaurant (I know why it was empty) laughing hooting and hollaring! I was not impressed. Long waits for food. no offer to refill salad or give us other breadsticks- we paid the $4.50 or so for the dipping sauce which looked like 2 tablespoons of Ragu in a little bowl- what a waste as we had nothing to dip after we ate the first few breadsticks provided.
That is so nice of you to not eat while your wifey and kid eats! For me, I would feel weird ordering one entree and an appetizer for 3 people regardless of one person not eating. Did the guidelines say you could order more at your own expense? It would be more enjoyable and worth it to me if I spent additional money and everyone ate. Of course I know everyone's situation and preferences are different.

I can afford to eat there. But I'm on a protein/veggie plan right now. Pasta is not gonna do me any good. I go out to eat plenty so they can eat and I don't have to. My weight/health are more important to me now than how others might perceive or how strange it looks.
