Do You Keep Guidelines? If So, How Long?

I keep nothing on my hard drive I can't afford to lose. The few things I really need are in the cloud somewhere. When I need a new hard drive, it is an annoyance hardware-wise, but probably for the better as it just cleans up all the unnecessary clutter and I get a clean install.

Now that I have a working desktop computer again.. I learned my lesson. I am now printing and storing all of my recipes in notebooks.

Eventually I'll get all of my recipes back, and get them all modified for my dietary limitations once again. In the mean time, every recipe is being printed and shoved in protective sleeves. I can make notes on the sleeves, and I can make permanent changes with a pen on the actual page before I fix the file on the computer and reprint it. My other files, like my unpopular opinions (a book) and legal files are also printed and filed in a safe place now.

And yes, I HATE paper waste, but I HATE losing my important files even more. So right now I have 3 electronic copies of most guidelines, on the desktop, on the tablet, and on the phone. I don't feel the need to waste paper on guidelines, they can always be downloaded again. If I lose some of the old ones, it's not a big deal.

I can be a hoarder at times, especially when it comes to paperwork. I shamefully admit I used to keep utility bills for 10+ years. I have not kept all the guidelines from the past year of work, but I have a 500-page stack. Do ya'll keep this stuff? I know some shops require you to keep information for a certain number of months in case there are questions later, so I am not talking about that type of stuff. I also want to hang on to any business cards of employees I've shopped, so if I go back to those locations, I know who to try to avoid.

I might keep them but in electronic form. I avoid printing stuff like that out unless absolutely necessary.
