Small business shops on Presto app

Anyone registered with the Presto shopper app PLEASE BEWARE of the small business shops in there. You have to spend money to make money and they have a VERY high rejection rate. You have to make two purchases for the same price so if one purchase is $10 then you have to do a second transaction for $10. And if the shop get rejected (which most likely it will you are out of $20 plus the shop pay. And DEFINITELY DO NOT do a route with these shops you will loose out on gas!! Then the location of these small businesses are in very very dangerous neighborhoods. So they basically want you to go into dangerous neighborhoods and take photos like these people in these areas aren’t already paranoid. Please STAY AWAY FROM THESE SHOPS!!!!!

These shops have been discussed at length here in multiple threads. And I'm pretty sure it's $8, not $10, and that's the reimbursement limit, not a required purchase minimum. I did one recently and bought two bottles of fruit juice for $1.99 each. Accepted.

First of all It’s a actually $20 minimum if there is nothing in there $8 to meet the minimum at the particular store. I was just using and example because you have to order items on the menu that shows a price within the minimum amount. So please don’t come for my post you don’t know me AT ALL. Like I said these shops have a high rejection rate and a huge money lost to the shopper!! You must work for them or something!!!!!!!!

That's it, I work for a huge international market research company and my high-salaried job is to infiltrate Mystery Shop Forum with false stories painting said company in a flattering light. I had everyone fooled for 4+ years but you found me out. Kudos.

Seriously, I've only done one of these because as you said, the rejection rate is said to be very high and the kind of discrete counter photos they want seem like they can be very hard to get. I took this one because it was bonused up to $40 and that was enough to make me get over my apprehension and try one. Luckily it went well, but I don't plan on taking another unless another super-bonus pops up.

Usually, if I'm doing a shop I don't have experience with and it involves an outlay, I find it's a good idea to do just one first. That prevents being out a lot of money if the demands prove overwhelming or things otherwise go sideways..

That is exactly what I did. I did two initially and they both were approved! Then I waited about a week to do more and that’s when the rejections start coming in. Mystery shopper since 2012 I know what I’m doing. Like I said don’t come for me I loves a tussle!!!!!!!! I was just trying to warn people about the shop and here you come trying to correct me like I’m some damsel in distress first time shopper. Please don’t try it!!!! ANYWAYS LIKE I SAID THESE SHOPS ARE NO GOOD!!!!!!!
Hey Rambo, chill. You made a duplicative thread with misleading information, so I pointed it out. Deal with it.
I'm so glad I'm not Facebook friends with op, lol

Chill with the caps and the drama bro, no one is 'coming for you'
appreciate the heads up....hate flakey shops
I have complained about this in other threads about some of my card shops going awry, but the more I do them, the better I get. You can usually tell by the store how hard it's going to be. I've chosen to do certain ones where I feel has a better chance of succeeding and staying around my neighborhood. Sharing what they rejected would be helpful to this group so we don't make similar mistakes. Overall, I don't think these shops are bad.
These shops have been discussed ad nauseam. I get that they can be tricky. And I get that the editors can be very particular in what they want. But, frankly, I'm happy that they've gotten the bad rap and have just sat there on the job board. It's allowed me to pick and choose the locations I want and I've made a lot of money on these in the past couple of months. Once you understand exactly what they want it's rinse and repeat. I just looked and I've done 35 this round...with zero rejections. Now excuse me while I go knock on wood...
OP seems like they have had one too many cups of coffee before posting.....
Calm down...
It appears you are new, and came here to vent. I understand your frustration but getting a nasty attitude here wont do you any good.
Yes, these shops can be frustrating. I've had some rejected when I did absolutely nothing wrong. Photos were crystal clear to me, but was told they weren't.... told there were priced items in a photo when all the price tags were over $8, etc...
You choose to not read this forum, or search it but instead posted your own thread. Try reading here a bit. It really is a wealth of information.
I can't help but notice the number of new members - 3 now, I believe - who have posted over-the-top negatively on Ipsos in general and these shops in particular. And now there are two who think that if you disagree with them you shouldn't post on "their" thread.
Now kids, if every new member took the time to read existing posts first, I'd have a lot less bedtime reading material. How dull that would be!

Whatever happened to the shopper that was so gung ho on these shops? Just Shop Somehow (or something like that) they haven't told us how well they're doing in a while. Wonder what happened. Not really.
I've done so many of these and only had a couple rejected and was my fault for the rejection too. I find these super easy and with them $30 each now, i would love to find me a route of them. But most left are just the salon ones. I got my eye brows waxed a couple days ago. That's all I need from a salon.
Actually, very many of us on this forum are successfully doing these small business shops and getting paid. So far only one of ours was rejected, and it was because my son put the wrong picture in the shop and didn't understand what the editor was asking for when they returned it to him.
I usually don't read these threads because I have zero interest in the shops, but perhaps I should for the entertainment value, if nothing else. -gets the popcorn ready-

If your path dictates you walk through hell, do it as though you own the place. -unknown
I make routes and do as many of these as I can. I haven’t had a single rejection. They are my favorite shops, especially now that the pay has gone up. I like the challenge, I guess. Sorry you’ve had bad experiences.
My shop from hell just got approved, with a nice editorial comment. smiling smiley

The closed location one is also approved even though there was no "closed" sign. $5. No partial payment for the bonus.
Because this is the most recent thread... Has anyone inquired (and got an answer) about the difference in the ones on the app and the ones on the MSC website, other than the $5 more on the website? I'd ask the MSC but probably won't get an answer. The ones on the site are also available on the app twice, for both fees. If you assign the site job for "Griffin's Widgets," the app job is still available for that same store. Basically, can you do the same location twice in one day, once on the app and once on the site, and get paid for both? Seems unlikely but, then why list the same location twice as separate jobs? Do they actually need those shops done twice or is it just a way for them to get two done, pick the best one and reject the second? These could be a pretty nice route if both shops are wanted, accepted and paid. I don't want to spend unreimbursed money and not get paid for the second one so I haven't taken the chance. Has anyone else?
Interesting. There's only a couple on the website near me, but they are not listed on the app. I imagine if you schedule one on the website, the one in the app might go away.
Nope. They stay there. Most places have been tested multiple times already so they might need both done but back when the project was new I had one of a double listing rejected.

I did this loooong ago when these shops were still just inquire about fees/ minimum and only make a purchase if there is. There were two shops/ pins at the same location. I checked in, completed one shop & submitted. Then checked in, completed shop #2 with different (unique) photos and submitted. Second shop was declined, editor stated I should have not completed the second shop. This was over a year ago.
Ses, there don't seem to be any crossovers here. They are either on Sassie or on Presto. Most of what's left is nail salons and beauty parlors. They can't do anything for me, no point in trying them. I don't like other people touching me and I cut my own hair.
The shops are only dangerous if you select dangerous locations. I have done tons of these and would not consider any of them dangerous. The most important thing to making sure it is not rejected is to be sure your receipts are for the very exact product. So the extra cheese will not fly on one of the items. Blurry pictures immediate rejection.

Lucky you. I guess you’re not in the Bay Area of CA? There are huge areas of complete lawlessness here. Some areas require two people: one to shop, the other to stay with your vehicle and lookout for trouble.

The dangerous shops are all still available. $35 is never worth the risk.
