News Release on Boar's Head

ok, but again IMO, this it too important for low dollar contractors who have no vested interest in the outcome.

Can someone tell me if a product is still listed, but not present, how that is handled. I had one product that had an open space, but there was no product. I’m not clear on what to put down. I’ve emailed the scheduler, but don’t know when I’ll hear back. Thank you!

Listeria is some serious business - and verifying removal is being handled by shoppers earning $10 a pop? You would think Boars Head would work directly through the supply chain....curse words left out. Imagine if they get sued by someone who gets seriously ill...their lawyers will have a field day with this one.
In terms of removal - it's one thing to box up packages of snack chips - quite another to deal with highly perishable meat products.
Oh well,....

i think the purpose of those $10 shop is to ensure the counters are removing the products off the shelves to prevent further exposure of the products. It does not mean they do not work with supply chain, but logistics takes time, and this is their second layer of protection that no affected products are being listed and continue to be sold to customers until the supply chain and logistics are available. In fact I believe the way they do it is mostly just put them off the shelves first and keep in the freezer until next delivery comes, then they pick up the affected product back to the factory at the same time.
In my market they have not asked shoppers to take care of removal. The store takes care of removal. I don't know if an outside contractor comes to the store to do it or the manager handles it. All we are asked to do is to double check and take some photos.

I did 5 today. Saw no livewurst but every store had at least 1 of the items that were to be removed int he case. They were very easy to .

Ideally, this is what you want to find. They can have a price sticker/listing on a menu board/etc, but if they've pulled the products, there *should* be a hole (i.e., no product) in the case for the ten items listed in the guidelines. When the survey asks for the number of holes, each one of those that are missing counts as a hole.

Gee, thanks for just insulting me and everybody else here who does this kind of work.

There's also no way for us to check lot codes/product dates. It's entirely possible the stores I visited that had the affected products in their case had different product codes and dates. But it was a super easy shop except two of the stores were a PITA waiting for people to get out of the way of my pics. You know how busy a Publix is on a Saturday afternoon?
I emailed the scheduler back because I did not believe I should have received that email. (All my pictures had all of the required information.) I believe that email was sent to all shoppers who performed BH shops.

Unrelated, it's been a while since I've done a BH shop. But I received an email from the scheduler on 7/19, stating that one of my shops did not have the required timestamp info. I've copied the email at bottom of my post. Just want to check if anyone else received this email, as well? I feel like it was a mass email to anyone who completed a BH shop, even to those who adhered to the timestamp standards.

PLEASE READ FOR BOAR'S HEAD!

Hi Shoppers!

We thank you for helping us with our Boar's Head project! We have identified that one or more of your shops in the past did not have the required timestamp information that was required in the guidelines. Moving forward, the client will not accept reports without this information so I wanted to pass along this note to ensure reports are accepted and you are paid!

If you have already corrected the issue, thanks! If not, we link the free app to use in the guidelines and also show how to add the store name, which is not automatically put on by the app.

Reminder that all photos (besides the receipt and meat) must have the address, date, time and store name.

Thank you!
There are 3 "retrieval" shops for RQA in my general area. I just looked at the instructions. There are eleven Bulk Deli Meats. The instructions say to audit the retail areas to ensure they are not for sale. Photos of the area are required as customary with RQA. The back area has to be checked to ensure that the product is either there (photo needed) or not (photo of floor needed). This is essentially standard RQA procedure. Nothing has to be purchased. As usual, a signature from the manager who accompanied you is required. I have never waited long for a manager, and when I do, I am being paid for my time by RQA so all is good.

Based upon some of the responses above, some people think this is the shop that requires purchasing $5 of a Boars Head product from the deli. It is not. RQA does product retrieval, not mystery shops.

Two are in summer resort areas and I don't want to get caught in the weekend Shore traffic. Admittedly, I would be paid all of that time, but makes for a long and frustrating day. If they are available for Tuesday or Wednesday, I will probably take them. The thrid one is in a completely different direction.

I got that email too and I don’t believe any of my photos did not include the proper timestamp info.

But yeah, finding a manager, especially on a weekend... -cringes-

[edited to redact since the client was previously named]

I'm thinking any employee name/screen scrawl will suffice.

When working grocery stores I usually head for the customer service desk. If a manager is not available, the person at the desk is the person in charge FWIS.

This shop began as a $5 purchase shop and now morphed into a photo shop. That is why "some people" think it is a $5 purchase shop. They are correct at the top of the thread.

I suspect that you did not use the app. In the app, the first step is to press a button when you are on-site. That button records the location and time. When I start at the site but choose to finish at home, I go back to the app to actually submit the shop. If you open the shop on your PC, the location button is not present. So, if you press the button using the app at the start of the shop and then fill the rest out using your PC, you need to go back to the app to submit the report.

This entire thread has just gone sideways.

The email in question was supposedly sent only to shoppers who did something wrong with their pictures for the smart MSC's previous Boar's Head shops, but yet apparently, everybody got it whether your photos were correct or not. This was through Sassie, not an app.

No reason to be insulted, d-dog, I think BfB might have meant that maybe the assignment would best be handled by a HazMat team.

Most of us that have done work of this type, though, have done so for years and the company in question always gives thorough instructions for the job and for our safety. I'd certainly take some on, if only they were available in my area....

I love to work with companies that don't regard all of us as idiots, and this is is a good company who seems to value their contractors who have a good track record.
oicked two today (for Monday) and plenty of them still listed on the board.

I have beef jerky shop for next week. are the affected with the similar recall?

If you refer to the guidelines for the two shops you've already picked, you'll see which products are involved.

Still nothing in my area.

And speaking of pictures, who besides me absolutely hates the camera implementation in the latest version of the retrieval company's app?

It does not support landscape mode or zooming.

I was worried my cooler pictures for the pet food recall would not be accepted because the in-app camera made it impossible to capture a 100% correct image.

I've been in direct contact with one of their reps, working on a one-off refrigerated warehouse project, and I mentioned the issues.

Looks like the recall has been expanded to include additional products.

Did one on Monday. Pretty straightforward because the supermarket I did was in compliance. The only complication was that the grab-n-go was right at the make-to-order sandwich area, and a family of four decided to camp out in front of the case and get made-to-order sandwiches, one at a time. I finally took a photo from a severe angle and left. It was accepted.

Requested five shops for this past Sunday, received only two, perhaps because it was my first time working for that MSC. Shops were easy to do. Only issues were waiting for a few customers to move out of the view of the service case and trying to be discreet while employee is at the slicer right behind counter pretty much the whole time I'm there.

As of the wee hours overnight Sunday / Monday all the other shops were gone.

The "check for recalled products" photo-only shops can be done anytime the store is open, so I went early when I knew the deli would be closed. No employees or customers to dodge.

I wonder if there will be another round of photo jobs for the expanded recall. There are so many stores directly around me, and such an easy job, give me more!
