Recall store question

How would you destroy a frozen food item on site in front of the manager?
I get that the manager would be present, but does this mean more than throwing them in the trash?
I guess they don't trust the stores to get rid of them.
Not at all familiar so happen to be curious.

The instructions will usually specify what needs to happen. It might be as simple as throwing it away or maybe the package needs to be open and the contents put into the garbage. With the snapple recall, we had to dump the contents. Hopefully the instructions will be available in the morning.
I took the 3 closest to me, and I'm hoping to knock them out tomorrow.

Guessing the app will be live with the locations and I can fake it if an LOA is not available on the site before I head out.

This has been kinda clunky given previous experiences.

The two "pre"projects had a slew of locations, but the real project only has 4. I'll do that one for hourly as it's about 50 minutes of drive time.

Previous destructions have included damaging packaging to render an item un-sellable and smashing chocolate candies. That one was fun.

Usually destroy on site is simple....trash it in front of a manager or associate. With the cinnamon recall, I had to open every jar and pour it out in a trash bag in front of a manager. No issues.
Anyone having trouble logging into the app? My credentials work fine on the web but the app says it's incorrect. They should be the same, no? It's been a whille and I would have no idea what else it could be. And there's no password retrieval function on the app.
I can log in but I have had that issue before. I think the user name and password are different than the web. I had to actually put a note in my phone about it in case I logged out somehow. I don't remember how I recovered it though.
I set up the mobile app yesterday. I was able pick my username on the app. I didn't know that some numbers had already been assigned to me. On the website, I login using the numbers. But on the app, after logging in with my selected username, when I tap Show Rep ID, it's linked correctly and shows me my ID picture! I'm just going to use this instead of taking the physical ID card with me.

The email was titled "Welcome to __________"

On the mobile app, you can try tapping "I need help!", then "Contact us", then it'll draft an email for you.

Aha! I did make a note of the info last time and found it. Still won't work, though. Now it says the network is busy, try later with a better connection. I have full bars!
I got the same error message when trying to submit my test project for new reps. Somehow, it got sent back to me. I give up. Hopefully, the other projects I self-assigned aren't this buggy.
Received some email notifications about this project. If you're doing one soon, go read!
Yeah, like a slew of 'em from the same person with one different paragraph of the instructions in each one? Weird.
I think if you read the succession of emails in chronological order as one thread (that's how it shows up in Gmail mobile app), it's regarding the destruction requirement.
Hm, sorry I've never done a recall shop(?)/project before. Do we being said garbage bags with us?
I did 2 in under 10 minutes each.
Biggest issue was the mentally ill people wandering around or camping out.
Super easy. Nothing to destroy. They already removed it all.
It says if you complete the first 3, you're welcome to assign yourself more.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.

No, not usually. Stores provide garbage bags, if needed.
Did 3 stores after work. No product, already removed. I was prepared with latex gloves and a sharpie just in case. Those store room freezers were s disaster area though. Boxes just thrown in there. Messy.

Overall, quick and easy.

Thanks! I think I saw a grocery bag reference too. I was prepared to go that route.

Did one within three miles of me as a test run. Took me 13 minutes. The manager was nice and immediately knew what I needed when I showed him the LOA. No recall products. He actually staged and grouped all of the products of the similar brand for me in frozen foods section while I took the pics. In the walk-in freezer in the back, he also staged some of the product cases for me. Oh my gosh, so nice! A part of me wanted to use the black marker though.

Thanks @drdoggie00 for giving me the heads-up!
Also, I did not know that one of these stores has this tall pole affixed to the cart so that you can't steal it from the store. I couldn't take my little cart into the back room. But the guy gave me another cart in the back.

Ha. That reminds me of a time I visited a drug store in Socal in 1998. I could not take my cart out of the store but I was able to pick up morphine patches for a relative without an ID. Go figure.

You're welcome. Once you complete the shops you selected, you may see more locations that haven't been taken. When you sign up for some, the rest vanish until you complete what you've already claimed. Sometimes these jobs are so easy it's almost like taking candy from a baby.

Oh, you could purchase trash bags, and RQA will reimburse you for them with the receipt, but they're probably not necessary for this project.

If your path dictates you walk through hell, do it as though you own the place. -unknown
I'm about embark on my first one in a bit, so all this info is great to have!

Anyone else get the 4 disjointed emails from the same staffer outlining the destruction details, only to receive a complete email from the project manager with the same info?

In my experience, the red/orange brand's stores are all total disaster areas. I used to service a slew of them for Foster Grant pre-Covid. The one closest to where I live now was far and away the worst, and has since been torn down.

You need to read the instructions and check your email for updates.
We just got some additional info via email - I think the last one said to BLACK OUT the upc codes so it for sure could not be resold. Yes, you have to do it while a mgr. watches because they then have to sign off on it.
Exactly, they don't trust the stores to complete the job that is why we are paid to go in and follow up (therefore the name of the job). Generally most of the product is removed, but it is our job to make sure that ALL the product was removed.
Yup, the chain of messages can also be viewed in the app. Reading the last email from the other person, if destruction is needed, seems like you need three photos, likely done in this order - blacked out UPC codes, bag of emptied contents, bag of opened/disposed packaging.
First one could not have been easier.

No freezers!

I took pictures of M&Ms, Snickers and the conveyor belt at the register.

I would have written on a piece of paper, “ This location does not sell frozen food,” and taken a photo and used it over and over for that location.

People get confused easily.
A more elegant solution for sure, but that's extra work for a per location payment as I had already indicated the same exact info in the comments field.

Previous experience with the company has proven that any picture submitted when there is nothing to depict is accepted without question.

I had a location that had moved for the contaminated chocolate project, with the new tenant being a local crafts store.

Took the picture of the building w/address as called for in the app, and then two pictures of pavement in the parking space next to my car for the non-existent store section photos that had to be captured.

A properly executed app would not require photos when criteria does not exist. The camera implementation in the last couple app updates has been awful, making it difficult to capture some images as specified.

Luckily, the app is pretty damned stable in my experience, and that outweighs all other transgressions when working in the field.

Agreed. They are pretty awesome. I had a couple of very remote locations that IT had to push through when they got stuck in a loop on the app.
