Stanton Optical.....

Has anyone done this shop? I understand it's an $80 payment with an eye exam being $69 but the exam magically becomes gratis if you go ahead and get glasses. They have a 2 progressives for $135 deal going on - but of course with limited frames. I think if I can keep it under $250 (factoring in the $80 reimbursement, so total price for two glasses $320 or less) I will go ahead and have glasses made.

What do you'all think? And has anyone done this particular shop? Any input is appreciated!

I did it the other day. I got 2 pair of glassed, lined bifocals, because I can't use progressives, for $135.00. But you might want to think long and hard before doing this shop. The location I went to changed the terms after I agreed to buy glasses. And I got pretty nice frames for the $79.00 buy one, get one deal. Read the advertising first, and then question why they are charging for the lenses, even though the signs say that the lenses are included. Three or four years ago I got 2 pairs at a similar outlet, with the same deal for $69.00, and I didn't pay extra for the lenses.

I wouldn't do it because I was told that at the location here, eye exams are done "remotely," meaning you interact with the doctor through a tablet. I have no clue how that works, but if I'm having my eyes examined, I want the person conducting the exam to actually be in the room.

If your path dictates you walk through hell, do it as though you own the place. -unknown

Also, check the terms and conditions for other limitations. Sometimes the discounted deal is limited to lenses between -6.00 and +6.00, with no astigmatism correction. If you wear -7.25 in one eye and -7.50 in the other eye, or if you have any astigmatism correction, you may not qualify for the discount price at all.

Doggie, it is a telehealth visit. The assitant moves the equipment, the guy on the screen isn't even an opthamologist, I thing they called him a refractologist? It was a really stupid made up name for someone who's just reading a script and pushing buttons. And then the opthamologist signs off on the results without ever meeting you.

I don't like people, I don't like being in closed rooms with people. I especially don't feel comfortable being in closed rooms with doctors. And I've yet to meet an opthamologist that I like. So this worked for me, I only came in contact with 3 different women, and the only person in the exam room with me was the same woman who did the pre-exam and the glaucoma test. I liked that part of it, I just really hate being lied to and cheated.
