I passed on the offer of $10. You have to lift a heavy object and need help. Um.. that requires more than $10. I think they are at $15 now. Hard pass. Maybe if they get to like $50 I would consider it!

Typical CI lowball initial offer. Someone will take it for that though.

ha! right. Thinking it'll be quick and easy.
I declined quickly! Anything in Walmart at that rate is an instant NO! for me!

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
How is it really that different though, than many mystery shoppers who do reveal gas stations for $25? Those are so time consuming and worth at least $40-$125 each depending on how far they are from anything else.

I grabbed a couple? Looks either real easy up to not even hanging the sign if there is not an existing sign and no good spot. Waiting for the stuff.

I imagine at a Walmart you may be signing a vendor log, waiting in line at customer service, standing around waiting for a manager or department head, waiting while they radio someone, waiting while they look for the display in the back, etc. At a gas station, just announce yourself to anyone and get going.

Walmart is mostly easy since no one there cares. I just go in there and do what I have to do. Vendor logs, what are those, its Walmart. If they need a name read a tag. Really depends on the job and the pay. I would not do any Walmart job though if it required me finding asistance (unless it pays very well).

The WMT project people are referring to was for $10, and stated that it required lifting something about 25 lbs, and 6 feet or higher. The gas stations usually don't require much physical work. Some of these projects with this company are things you don't really know what you're getting into until you get there.
I didn't accept it for 10.00 or anywhere near. I went to one by my house yesterday and the sign could not be placed the way they want it. Now that I have seen the set up, I asked for further guidance. CI does not work weekends so probably nothing until Monday. Bottom line is per the guidelines if the sign can't be placed somewhat correctly then they, CI, wants it back. If the sign could be placed it would have been very easy and straight forward. The problem is a Walmart price sign is where this sign needs to go and the guidelines did not talk about removing a Walmart sign. I stopped at a 2nd Walmart on my way to another job just to look there and same deal. I will see what they say but I think at least 2 of these jobs will be getting sent back to CI. I have 5 more to go. There could be a nice pile at my house for Fed Ex to pick up next week. I will still be getting paid of course since CI is nothing but fair once you get the fee negotiated.

i don't care about the lifting part, but having to rely on employees, and grabbing something from the back room is more often times than not a fail, especially at walmart. "there's pallets and pallets of stuff back there, i won't be able to find that" what am i supposed to say to that? "break open all the pallets, please, so we can find one little display." then we gotta clear space it sounds like? so where are we moving the items we clear to? lol. then i'm hearing about problems with the signage. in a perfect world, we would be able to walk in with display in hand, and a designated endcap would already be cleared for us. boom.
^^^^^^^^^ I agree 10000000000000% with @Jay's observation above...I have experienced it myself, which is why I don't do anything in Walmart anymore that isn't super easy, like putting coupon hangers on water bottles or something similar!! ^^^^^^^^^^
at target it's actually doable. they can easily check their system and it will say where it is in the backroom.
walmart though, yea, not happening lol

Now thats a Walmart job I usually wouldn't take if I have to get material from them. Walmart jobs are easy because nobody there cares. Trying to get material from Walmart for a job is almost always a non-starter. I say almost always cause with the right amount of pay I can wait around or come back.
What I am trying to say here, which some people don't seem to get, is that a Walmart job can be easy and well paying if you are bright enough to understand the job. Saying I won't work in Walmart PERIOD is stupid unless you really feel you can't deal with the Walmart customers (or you just do this stuff for fun and not money).
I don't do this stuff for fun!

I just completed five of them in my area. They are a lot of work. Im 5'4" and brought a three step ladder to clip the 28 lb display on the top of the 84" high gondola. After I got the hang of that, the display poster kept falling out. I had to take the foam for the boxes and stick it in the groove forthe poster to stay until I was able to place the large poster in the slot. I spent over 30 minutes at each of the 5 locations. I notice that they up the price to 20 bucks. I would do it again, if they offer 30. If you want a workout and little money then it may be worth it.
Thanks for the heads up on the posters. I keep some side double sided tape in my car. I figured about 20 minutes from what I saw in the store. Hopefully my scheduler will get back to me on Monday. They are usually real good there but I emailed one (two actually as I did not know who is in charge) last Wednesday about a different job and did not get any reply.
I have not done much for them (or anyone) over the last couple years. I hope this (no reply) is not a trend. I remember calling from the job site if needed in the past and they were always there (except weekends which pissed me off and made me jealous at the same time).

I think what most of us were saying is that we would work in Walmart, but at an acceptable fee. Most of us probably didn't find the starter fee of $10 acceptable.
Fair enough. I don't go anywhere for 10.00 unless I will be driving by a 5 picture gas station debrand!

I do know that the product is shipped to you. If you choose a location that isn’t heavily populated, you’d be surprised how quickly you could get started and finishing would be based on how quickly you could put the display together. I suppose it’s not much different than gas stations except you get to enjoy the indoor climate compared to whatever weather you’d be up against doing a project outdoors.
Looks like the 2 I stopped at Friday will not get done. They looked at my pictures and told me to close out the jobs. I can't put them where they want them without moving the Walmart sign. They don't want me to move the sign. I have 5 for the next couple days along with some other stuff, guess we will see what gets done. At least I know the drill now! I actually would like to complete at least one but if not oh well!

Dan
Finished my Walmart stops today. I ended up hanging 2 signs for 7 stops. It is a 2 person job to get that sign up for sure. The most time consuming part of completing the 5 no gos was, as always, was finding a manager to sign off. As per ususal, whoever wrote the sequence in the app has never been in a Walmart store and they thought it was a good idea to take the same pictures muliple times! Overall easy money!
So I signed up for the closest location at $25 that is about 26 miles from my home. The 20 pound box I received is 2” depth and 3’x3’ and then I received a second box which weighs about a pound, and is over 3 foot tall. There’s no way I will be able to do this alone because I weigh 130 pounds soaking wet and found it difficult to even maneuver the box into the front door. Yes, I’m a Puss. Husband will be helping me with this Friday after he gets off work.

It should be interesting to get this hung up and I don’t think I will be accepting another location even though they are now paying $35.

They just went to $50 in my area but it's a bit time consuming and I already have other projects to complete that pays more.
Oh boy! I took one of these on nearby because my other work will be done by then so I have nothing to do for a few days. I’ve done Ty merchandising for a while now so I will report back on the relative difficulty. The materials are being Fed Exed my way.
it is not so much the weight of the sign as it is the angle you would have to hold it up by yourself to attach it. Get everything ready to go and find someone. They will be happy to stop doing what they hate for a minute and once it is ready to go you need them for about 20 seconds!

Good luck!
My husband and I worked together to install the sign, and I'm so pleased he came along. We used a grocery cart to transport the boxes into the store. I struggled to move the shelving forward the required inch, so he had to do it for me. Installing the display case would have been easier if it locked into place; instead, it folds forwards in half, so we had to lift it into position together.

I discovered that rolling the poster inward made it much easier to place it in the display after it was hung. Insert the bottom of the poster into the top of the frame, while dropping it in, it will unroll. However, it would have been better to install the poster inside the case before hanging it if the display would lock in an upright position.

While you’re up on the ladder, you’ll need to take a photo of the Velcro patch in place and a picture of the zip tie that is used to secure the display. The only way to properly attach the display with the zip tie is to use a ladder, which is needed for hanging. At 5'10", I definitely needed the ladder. Fortunately, an employee brought over a cart with an attached step ladder and provided a lot of help.

Overall, I think I would enjoy doing more of these installations as long as I have assistance. Putting the display together was relatively straightforward. Total time was about 20 minutes with additional time to wait at customer service for install approval.
I am so thankful you shared. I just got my boxes today and my husband and I were planning to roll over there tomorrow assuming at 5’10ish we wouldn’t need a ladder smiling smiley.
The only problem could be securing and getting a good picture of the zip tie!
