Norm's is back

I could swear someone asked about this ultra-casual West Coast chain a few months ago, but I can't find the thread. It is to my amazement now being shopped by the same MSC that does all the high end dining and hotel/resort shops! Bid for your fee, $50 reimbursement, party of two required. Since all of my upcoming West Coast travel will be solo someone else will have to report back on whether it is actually worth what is likely a considerably longer survey compared to the old MSC from a few years ago.

That should be interesting. The restaurant doesn't fit the high-end clientele this MSC goes for.

BTW...there is now a Vegas location. It's on the northern part of Vegas though (off Charleston)

4605 W Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89102

for 50 years i lived in SoCal. Im might have been inside of a Norm's 2x in my life. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't a place I looked forward to going to.

I remember when COVID first started, they started offering deals and included toilet paper. Since toilet paper was the "gold" of that time period for the first couple of months. I thought it was a genius marketing move. Probably in 50 years someone might look back and wonder what kind of statement they making advertising toilet paper with their food. "Our food is so "sh**ty" that you will need this too." Or maybe "Our food will give you the runs, so this will come in handy too."
Ultra casual? I am not sure what that means. Norms is an old fashioned coffee shop. They have a full menu just like cofrfee shops of the old days where coffee was not the main thing served. I just took a look at the menu at my local one. It is a updated in that they have more fish then they used to and a few chicken dishes beyond fried chicken but still basically a protien with a side of green beans and mashed potatoes or similar.
That has never been my choice in food but they do have a wonderful small hot fudge sunday that comes with the dinners. I cannot imagine doing an extensive report in exchange for eating there but I am sure many still enjoy that type of food. If ultra casual means a sign on the door saying No Shoes, No Shirt, No service this is it.
