Capital Grille Generous Pour

The fact that you were able to shop two locations for this limited rotation and I didn't have the opportunity to do any is very frustrating.

NinS, I didn't get the amuse bouche either!

Dafizisblue: They were posted around July 3 and my applications were approved on July 5, so some people may not have been looking at the boards over the holiday. (I never saw an email so I'm not sure when it went out.) Hopefully they'll run this again next year and you can grab one!
I look almost every day. I may have missed one day which was probably the day it was posted.
Yes, they stiffed me with that too!

But they forgot the amuse bouche! (BTW it was some sort of streak and blueberry thing at the first location.)`
That's a long time to wait. You mentioned that you were able to detail a few things that were missed by the staff during your shop. Same for me, and I'm sure for other shoppers as well. Maybe the client will realize that they would benefit from being shopped regularly.

This is one of my all time favorite shops. I am so glad it’s back. I was too late to get one assigned this round. Congrats to those who did!!!

FYI, I just received word back from the MCS's scheduling dept that "the Capital Grille assignments were a limited time assignment only for the month of July." :-(

Apparently, the info I received was incorrect, as I just picked up a CG shop for August. Good luck!

You are so frigging awesome!!! I don't log in and look at MSF much anymore, but happened to stop by just now to see the word on some other subjects, saw this thread - read your post and snagged one myself!! Thank you!!
I just got a Capital Grille. And got it for my birthday, but I don't think I will tell them since I have order dessert anyway.
I will refrain from bragging even further. smiling smiley

Got one for August. A little nervous about it. We are not heavy drinkers and I have medical issues. Hope we both can "sip".

You're only required to order one GP, and you can definitely sip without any judgement. I've done this shop several times in the past, and we sipped some of the wines because they didn't taste good, we preferred other varieties, etc.
NinS and soonerself, thank you! To date, I've received the most value from your posts in this thread. smiling smiley

Thanks yo this thread, I just accepted a generous pour for early August.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
I was just able to self assign! My best friend lives about 70 minutes from me, and has helped me with a lot of heavy personal stuff this year, so he’s going to come in, and we’re going to have a tres fancy dinner together (he knows it’s a mystery shop, and he actually did a hotel/dinner shop with me a month or so ago, so, knows the basic routine of not eating before I photo “for the ‘gram”)
I did it! I hit the "backup" button when I first saw that the shop was taken. The description I thought said that it went through the summer........But I ended up being given the shop! FWIW, the location charged $50, not $45. Also, does that not seem like a lot for 12 oz of wine, even if there were different wines? We had no problem with sharing issues as my guest did not drink wine.
I thought the same since I usually get single glasses of wine (which are about 5 oz) elsewhere for no more than $12. I guess the "experience" adds value to this though.

A couple of years ago when they were doing this I was celebrating my partner's birthday -- i didn't worry about ordering a second dessert as I had one to review and I got zero push back and since I think we would have gone a touch over without dessert it kept out of pocket expenses down.
Quick question. In the guidelines, it says at least five photos: The whites, the reds, any bottles, the amuse bouche, and "= Photos of entrees and/or any other food items" And it also says "Do NOT touch, eat or disturb your food or beverage items in ANY WAY before taking the required photos (except for cutting the steak to show degree of doneness)."

Those of you who have done this, did you take a photo of each entree (both cut and uncut), a photo of the app, a photo of the dessert, a photo of the side, or did you just do the entrees (cut if steak) and call it a day. I just try not to be too conspicuous.

You should definitely take photos of each food item (pretty typical). I would only take of photo of the cut steak if the degree of doneness is not as ordered, or if the server asks you to cut into it when it's served (i.e. you have no option to take a photo of it uncut).
The first round of GP shops was "apply and be assigned" but the second round was the usual self-assign for this MSC.

I agree about the steak photo advice. One photo per steak should be fine as soon and take it as soon as you can, but if you have to cut it that's OK. I did explain to the server that I wanted to take a photo of the bottles of wine so I could remember what I tried. Based on their response this seemed like a perfectly normal request.
I usually take all of the photos. I don't think you have to take a photo of the steak to show the level of doneness. That was a requirement for the regular shop last year, though.

Try to take a photo of the bottles in the holder. During my visit, a holder fit three bottles. The server or another person may quickly leave with it after pouring. I just asked if I could take a picture of it. The person doesn't seem to find it strange at all and left it on the table.
