Chipotle!

My guess is that some franchisees might be mystery shopping their locations. And I do believe some franchisees own more than two locations, hence clusters in certain areas of the country. Just a guess on my part.

I haven't seen shops for any of the companies Gene mentioned in 10 years of shopping Dallas and Upstate NY, except Dunkin drive through meal shops about 4 years ago.

There's a Chipotle and Dunkin about a mile from my house and I've never seen either shopped in the last 4 years.

Chipotle is NOT franchised. neither is In N Out. That is why you should come to expect the same basic policy from each location. Texas Roadhouse is franchised and you can get different things at different places and different prices too. Some early bird stuff ends at 5;00 PM and others end at 5:30 PM. I found out the hard way once. So now I make sure if it's a place I don't normally frequent.
So that just leaves 3 of the 4 companys along with the etc. that might fit my immginary scenario.

I do believe Canes has bought back many of their franchised locations.

And BTW, i never mentioned In and Out. But thank you for that information.
I was only mentioning In N Out because i prefer companies that don't franchise. It's a shame I cannot buy shares of In N Out. Lynsi Snyder is raking the $$$ in.

I know there are some RC franchised, but I think they have stopped doing that now. They did it for awhile. I have not idea about Dunkin nor do I care about them :-P
...and as I'm sure you've read, she's leaving business hostile Cali for Tenn

I just checked the MSC; the only Chipotle shops are in the next major city near me. None in the suburbs where Chipotle is more popular.
I distinctly remember a Chipotle program from years ago. Pretty sure it was a different MSC.

They required you attend a training at a Chipotle location.

Besides making myself known to the employees of that location by attending, I found the program to be too involved for the pay being offered, so I never performed any.

Have synthesizers, will travel...
I did that training for the "A" company. I did a few shops for Chipotle (maybe 10), but did not like how much detail was involved either. I stopped doing them after maybe 10 or so. It was cool that they were very into the details for the business and cared enough to set up a program like that instead of just farming it out and hoping people would do it correctly.

Maggiano's did in-house thing like that way back in GWBush's first term. That is kinda what got me started in mystery shopping. A coworker was doing it and I got to participate as well. Who knew more than 20 years later I would be doing all kinds of assignments.
As crazy as it sounds, I did the training for Chipotle my first month as a shopper, I had only done 1 shop, a two visit car negotiation shop. I found it invaluable to learning what to look for at my subsequent mystery shops (Chipotle and elsewhere). I think we were paid a little better up here in Canada then you Americans, but yes I worked for that fee. Actually miss those shops, but that's probably just the nestalgia talking. Lol.

I too did the training for the Chipotle shops. Several times I happened to see one of my trainers or serving people at a different location helping out when I was on a shop there. I always wondered if they remembered me but never went up to ask. This was so different from any other ms I have done where the entire serving line at a location I shopped often knew I was trained there.
The other thing that stood out to me and kept me coming back to those shops is that all the shops I did for that msc (burgers in addition to Chipotle and a similarly constructed Pizzas shop from a diff msc) not only paid better than any other ms for fast food but it was , and still is, food I look forward to enjoy eating and not something I am tempted to give away to the first homeless person or trash can I see upon leaving.
Me too, luckily I did the training at a store that was not close to my home, in fact it was in a different county altogether. So I almost never saw any of the trainers or employees from that store. I love Chipotle, I always have, but for nearly 4 years after I was deactivated by the MSC (I didn't accept any new shops for over 30 days), I couldn't even bring myself to walk into a Chipotle. I asked to be reinstated after the first 60 days, but was sumarily dismissed. I still had almost $200 in Chipotle gift cards, my son slowly dwindled that to nothing as time went on, but we still had some on gift cards when we moved across country and we stopped at a few Chipotles on the way. Riverside County CA is Los Angeles' red headed stepchild when it comes to getting new restaurants and shopping opportunities, we never got any of the other shops close enough, or far enough away from Yuppiville that I could get to.
All this Chipotle talk I think I need to run over there for dinner....50 extra points plus a free guacamole on my acct if I go in the next few days and I do have a gift card from a place that pays me in gift cards and of the 30 or so choices Chipotle is the only one I ever shop at.
Being that Chipotle is a publicly-traded company, it's kind of wild that its former MSC was a mom and pop operation that two brothers ran in its final years. That MSC also did Shake Shack shops. I did the training for SS and was allowed to do Chipotle chops after simply being handed the guidelines. Only did a couple of those before they ended.
Sure thing, and I hope not, LOL...those shops went on until about 2018.

Thank you for sharing the history behind the shops. I was curious. I may have been in diapers then. smiling smiley
I also did the SS training. I did a lot of those shops and at least they kept changing the purchase each month. I know a few of you go way back to Maggiano's and Cheesecake Factory days. I still have a few of those Cheesecake Factory gift cards. Those were the days.
Has anyone done the Presto Order Ahead shops for SS?
Did anyone else run into a 2 shop max for Chipotle? After I accepted a second shop the rest of them disappeared.
Very clever-Congrats-It took me a while
