Club Citgo

For those of us who have enjoyed a pretty good starting pay and a gallon or so of gas for a relatively simple shop: looks like we're SOL. I saw them today with a different (smart) MSC for $7 and one (count 'em - ONE!) dollar of gas.

Looks like I'm headed for early retirement.

Same with the special project. Use your credit card for a $1 reimbursement.
Wow. I didn't see any of those in my area. I wonder if the original MSC has lost that brand completey. They've had it for at least 20 years that I know of.
I sure hope not. I'm not sure how much more they expect to squeeze out of us. The lowering in reimbursements for the other shops is not a good sign.
I've been getting bunches of emails from the previous company, and a few from Bethany too. Last email said $10 each for Citgo.. still not enough for me to do them. Maybe they unloaded the Club Citgo shops and not the others?
Current company is losing the contract. What's posted is the last they will have.
All going to the Sassie (smart) company, and unfortunately at lower fees & reimbursement.

That's absolutely ridiculous for the special project. Not very intelligent of a reimbursement!
Well, the bonuses are going to have to get pretty high for me to do a cheap shop with a reimbursement value as close to zero as it can be. And this MSC is really tight with bonuses so I doubt I will be participating. Someone will though. They seem to get all their other cheapazz shops done each month.
An additional thought: As we know, a lot of convenience stores have a minimum dollar amount to use a credit card. This means most of your chintzy pay is going to be eaten up to meet the minimum to use a credit card on a product that's three times the price if what it would be in a regular store for the special project.

I did the store by me to see if it was much different than the current/previous company - not really. Basically the same report, different platform. And this store has a sign by the register that it has a $5 minimum for credit/debit cards.

Edit - this store was part of the special program (used to reimburse $6) not club citgo.

I would do these as part of the regular Citgo route I did. I'm not taking all those photos for just $1.00.

That sucks. They don't like route shoppers either.
The move to the new MSC sure is paying off for Citgo, at least if my area is any indication. Even with the Trimark of Excellence ships, everything for about a 50-mile radius around me is FLYING off the board at base pay. That never happened with the old MSC. It's a bottom.feeding fiesta!
I've been seeing that too. But I still haven't decided if they are really flying off the board faster than the old MSC, or if it is simply easier to see what's going on because it's Sassie.
Just as I commented in another thread concerning multiple pics, this is my final mention of the Arab/camel business model.

For those unfamiliar with the adage, the model is named after the infamous parable of the Arabian chap discovering, after loading his animal, a single straw was on the ground. He then picked it up and flung it upon the camel's back; the beast quickly collapsed. That action gave rise to the straw that broke the camel's back.

The model, as it relates to shopping, would be customized to the desires of the MSC. It could be a gradual lowering of fees. a payment time extension or an increase of work for the same money. If no one bites at the change, the MSC is free to tinker with the parameters until the work is completed.

I neither criticize companies nor shoppers in need. This IS still business.

Well stated. This should be framed. This can be applied to many shoppers' situations and frustrations.

They don't appear to be "flying" by me. I've received a few emails this week, but some of the remaining shops are in crap areas with drug and gang activity. Would need to up the pay for those to "fly" off the board.
Yes, I'm seeing the usual suspects too. I'm leaning toward the shops not getting taken at a faster rate than before. But I think my original premise is true. Some out there are satisfied with the paltry starting rate or something close to it, and have hoovered up the bulk, but I think that was true before too.
I can only speak for my area, and they are absolutely coming off the board faster with the new MSC. With the old "degrees in a circle" MSC, there were a handful of locations that would reliably bonus up after a while. No more. They're gone at base.

It appears the i company has a big enough shopper community to take these at the base pay/reimbursement. Sad.

That is the problem I have. Most of these stations have a 5.00 minimum for cards and I was told you can NOTbuy a buck in gas. I would do them for 9.00 if I could buy gas.
Many still on the board here, most in areas that will need a bonus for me to go to.
I am not seeing this happen on my board. They just keep sitting and sitting. I wish someone would take them off so it will be easier to see the other jobs. I keep getting urgent emails to complete them and grab a lot. NOPE! There is no way I would do these for the price they are offering. Even a bonus wouldn't help.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.

Why oh why would you do them for $9 ??? Are you not worth more ? You would get a TOTAL payment of $50, a month from now (for 5). How does $1 in fuel help you ? Compare that to Exxon (5 for $90, getting paid in less then 10 days). This is exactly what is wrong with shoppers nowadays. Where is your respect for yourself ? If you are that poor, how does $50 in 30+ days help you ?

If I can do it in 10 minutes for 10.00 as part of my daily route I will. I have done them before and they take 10 minutes. I have a problem with they not letting me buy gas on my card. It pisses me off that they are going to add a charge on due to the low purchase price. I grabbed one that fit in to my Monday schedule.. I will see what I can buy for .50 I guess.
I've done about ten of these with the new MSC. Everything in Raleigh and Durham and close in suburbs except for some in questionable neighborhoods got snapped up early, but most of the rural ones have been sitting around. I've been getting them on my way back from doing other things (either MS or not MS) on Tuesdays and Saturdays, usually 3 at a time. I certainly would not go out of my way for them but if it's basically on my way home anyway and it's a pleasant afternoon with a podcast playing off of my phone between stops, sure.

The $1 reimbursement is annoying and I bring cash, but several of the independent places still sell a 12 oz can of Diet Coke for $1 or $1.25+tax Otherwise I buy a package of Mentos or gum.
They lost it completely. I went to set up a route with them in October and they told me they didn't have have it anymore. I'm not going back in time. Their reimbursement is crappy, and so is the pay.

In my area, they are not flying off the shelves. They are just sitting there. I think they have a larger shopper base than the other company did. I'm just not doing them for $7 when I was accustomed to doing routes for no less than $17 a shop. I would get contacted in the second month of the quarter, and we would strike a deal to get them done. I've done quite a few states for them that way. This new company won't budge, so neither am I.

Not if you're doing them properly.
