Yes, I haven't seen them since the "second MSC". I am hoping they will be like the Sonic's and go back to the original MSC.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
They might be enjoying the savings of not having their MSC program. The place is quite popular so maybe they mistakenly are resting on their laurels and thinking they don't need to do it.

Even In N Out which has a very loyal customer base still does shops even though most locations I visit score high on the experiences.
According to articles I have read, fast food places like McDs and Wendy's are flat or losing sales. Here's what the internet says about Canes: "Raising Cane's reported $5.1 billion in system sales for 2024, a 33% increase from the previous year, making it the third-largest chicken chain in the U.S. behind Chick-fil-A and Popeyes."

I can also say this for my area...My closest "Mall", although changing over the years with different stores, is still popular enough that traffic backs up onto the local highway and it isn't even the holidays yet.

Furthermore, an adjacent college town with strip stores and a Cane's is as popular as ever. I can't recall seeing any store leases that are available for rent.

In summary, while some areas of the country might be having economy doldrums, I'm not seeing it through my vehicle windshield.
Canes has somewhat of a cult following, kind of like Chic Fil A. I will hear my kids (ages 21 and 24) and their friends discuss which is better. The food is very consistent and the only real variable when I shopped there was the drive thru speed. They may have received enough data to make whatever improvements they want to make and perhaps restart at a later date. Personally, I am not a fan of Canes. They need more variety on their menu (especially sides). I predict Jaggers will enter the scene nationwide at some point. Our family prefers Jaggers over Chic Fil A or Canes. I wish they were included along with the TXR family of mystery shops.
FOR ME, the only thing good at Canes is the chicken and the canes sauce, The cold slaw sucks, the commercial grade out of the bag fries suck and the texas toast is meehhh.

Couldn't agree more about those gawd awful fries. Aldi frozen fries are 10x better.

A Cane's in a college town near me continues with a near full parking lot every day.

I still see no real issue with the economy based on store head count. College tuition and automobile prices are high, but it seems there is plenty of money for fast casual calories.Nearby a gym with mostly college age clients appears busy.

How does this disconnect continue? The Bank of Mom and Dad?

I am on a route at the moment. In what most would consider 'marginalized' neighborhoods, aka many claim no money for food. The gas stations are PACKED with people buying lottery, alcohol and snacks. I choose a can of Air Heads soda I thought my kids would like, 16oz = $3.79!!!!!! A boba drink (prepackaged, not freshly made) $4.99!!!
I'm completely dumbfounded how these locations are moving such overpriced product.
And then people wonder why they have no money. Humans, amiright? SMH.
FOMO. Live for today. Blame someone else for your problems. Lack of personal responsibility / accountability. No plan of your own.

We see this in the media today, and on this blog; "...it's Trump's fault" meanwhile people have no plan or accountability of their own. This is why there is personal and public debt.

Ah, and now for the brain-dead responses in 3, 2, 1... smiling smiley
I work at a community college and often observe students ordering McDonalds via Door Dash and the McDonalds is located one block away. I don't think these kids know how to pack a lunch. We are currently collecting food for the on campus food pantry. I asked several Gen Z students if they have ever eaten boxed macaroni, tuna and peas. They looked at me like I had lost my mind.

Oh, don't get me started w/ door dash...

Here's one example out on the East coast;

"For more than a year, Rutgers University football players enjoyed a pricey perk that few other students had access to — free DoorDash food deliveries from restaurants, convenience stores and pharmacies, paid for by the university, and ultimately by taxpayers and students.

And the costs piled up.

Football players ordered $450,000 through DoorDash from May 2021 through June of this year, according to a review of invoices and other documents obtained by the media."

@maverick1

But only $450k for a 4 year period for a team of at least 50-75 players? That does not seem like that much money. I would expect it to be much higher than $450k.

I'm not saying I am okay with this, just more shocked at the number being that low.

Oh, I'm sure this happens with other "expenses", other "services" and other institutions.

When the expectations of kids is "everyone gets a trophy", "everyone gets to play", etc. there becomes a "gimme, gimme" ingrained generation.

...and pharmacies?

Audit, audit, audit!
Its sad that this is their normal. Go on a tour of a 4 year university and at least half of the time will be spent with the recruiter showing off the dining hall. This is not Disney World.
My daughters campus has chic fil a, panda, qdoba, and other stuff. i see the panda listed to shop each time and it's one of the last ones taken off the board.

Should have your daughter joined the MS and had her shop that panda on bi-weekly basis, save some lunch money and start earning some side cash at the same time lol

Hey,.at least that's some GDP contribution and the university had helped with some job numbers for doordash delivery drivers........right?

Only in America we get to have kids, that have no ability to earn money, holding a $2000 iphone, wearing a $150 nike shoes and sipping a $6 starbuck drinks and complain about how capitalism is evil, and the society fail them.
My immediate family members (human) hate panda. Done way too much over the last 3 years. The family members that love it still are the 2 dogs. fried rice and teriyaki chicken (no sauce).

We have a similar Panda on a college campus about 90 miles from us. It regularly goes to the end of the round and it heavily bonused. But they aren't open on the weekends, or the evenings. My son has signed up to do it several times, but has only been able to do it about half of those times because when he gets there school is out and they are closed.
The Panda in my area that is on campus is one of the hardest ones to get. I work near campus and it is walkable distance for me. I want to pick it up but I can only get it if I am lucky. It doesn't help that there is no drive thru or online ordering scenarios posted. Some computer science major that really likes Panda must have a way to pick up the shop as soon as it is posted!
As a parent I am fighting this so hard. My kids don't have cell phones till 16. I don't buy name brands. We don't indulge in things like Starbucks, Crumbl, etc... unless it's a shop I'm not buying it. Sometimes it feels like a losing battle to make them learn to work hard and sacrifice to get ahead in the long run.

My son has most of those restaurants on or near his college campus. He visits several of them, but hasn’t signed up to be a shopper.
Interesting how this turned into a circle...well, you know.

Don't give up the fight!

We bought Crumble cookies on our dime once. Just over made production cookies IMO. I'd rather have home-made choc chip cookies TBH.
yesterday 11/6 was free cookies at Crumbl. I have never spent a dime there. A friend told me. So i took the family cuz I was nearby. They gave out the thin, hard choco chip cookies. I was thinking for someone who never has had those cookies, that is not a way to try and have them come back. It was not good. I have had their cookies on other peoples expense and they are good, but not worth what they charge.

i'll take the $2.49 costco warm choco chip cookie all day every day. sometimes at 9:30am when walking into store, that's a great start to the day.
A Choc chip cookie review...
