Just ask for what you need, you don't have to give a reason. It won't be the strangest thing they have heard, not even a memorable event in the parade for them.@ArkLaMissshopping wrote:
I am talking about the presto buy two things at $7. They are asking for two different receipts. I was thinking about doing one just to see what they are like, but I got to thinking about how hard it would be to get two receipts at places like gas stations.
Yet another reason to just come right out with it. 'I want to buy both of these but as separate transactions, one on my card and the other is cash." Remember, you aren't trying to trick anyone. You're just buying one for yourself and the other for a friend who isn't physically present but gave you that $10 bill. Nothing weird about that and they truly don't actually care. You'll only get pushback if they have some policy that will interfere with completing the transactions.@bradkcrew wrote:
I took a loss on one of these yesterday. I made the debit purchase, then went to make the cash purchase and was told they don’t accept cash. Huh?
So I was paid $2(always used to be $5) and no reimbursement Whatever….

Pro tip from non-pro: always be ready to bail.
I made the mistake in the beginning of being determined to get the job done in any way possible. I've since learned that when there is any doubt as to whether the mission will go as planned, it's best to just cut bait and leave.
Like when the owner's breathing down your neck while you browse, making it impossible to get pictures. Or you're at the register with your two items and the manager suddenly tells you about an undisclosed minimum and insists that you buy more items. Or you've bought the first item and are told that there's no receipt paper. Don't bother trying to reason. Just go.
I was speaking more generally.@sestrahelena wrote:
These are just add ons for me. Always along the way to the real jobs. So no real time or gas investment to get there.

My issue is asking for a transaction receipt. They look at you like you just asked for $1000.

If i get a weird look and it feels awkward, I say, "yea..I have been having issues with my card and I am keeping all receipts." 100% of the time so far, I have gotten an empathetic response and they provide what I need.

I have not done one of these since the days you only made one transaction. Can you purchase both at the same time or do you need to leave and come back to get the second one? I suppose it would be hard for the msc to know if you actually walked out and then back in again.

I did say I was making two separate transactions from the start. I just didn’t mention cash as it never occurred to me that there are places that don’t accept cash.
