Haven't done any myself, but I've checked out other threads about these shops to get others' experiences. Seems like too much of a pain in the @ss for $30, and they never go higher than $30 in my area. Also, from what I've read of their business I don't agree with their business practices, so I don't particularly want to help them.

Never done them, though about it, read the guide lines, not for me. Nobody seems to do them near me either. Certain shops move super fast and others like this just sit and sit.
They message about these shop frequently. I think there was something recently about how they'd reduced the on site time requirement and swapped out one task for another, supposedly making it quicker and easier. Never heard that one before (snicker).
It still sounded like too much hassle for the pay to me but we all have different things we find appealing.

I don’t know which MSC is offering these now, but a couple years ago I did all twenty of them in my city and was paid $75 each with the same two hour requirement. $30 is a joke.
Taking a look at these. Search did not do much.
How are these done, on paper, an app, website on phone?
I have not done work for that MSC in a very long time. Their website is kind of screwy.
Anyone do these? How long? Not an oil change, an audit.

Coulda sworn there was at least one thread about this audit. I was interested in doing them, but ultimately passed. The bottom line is the auditor may have to stay there for two hours, and for just a $30 fee. I recall at least one person saying they had to stay the full two hours. Also, while I realize not every location engages in unethical practices, too many of these places do shoddy work and try to sell people services they don't need. That's not a business I want to engage with.

I thought there was something too. My bad, forgot about search parameters. It was at 30 days..
How are these entered? Is there an app or take a laptop on site. Have not done any work for that MSC in a very long time. Their website kind of sux.
I'm an old mechanic.. I can't even imagine an oil change, especially a drive thru oil change, taking 2 hours. How would you justify staying there more than the 30 - 40 minutes it takes to do everything, paperwork included? Is there a revealed audit also? Or is it a revealed audit without an oil change?
Never underestimate Jiffy Lube's ability to skirt the law and defraud customers. They do it VERY well, even with all of the checks and balances on the auto repair industry in CA, they still find a way.

This is a revealed audit. No oil change involved for me.
If I take a test I will get an extra 20.00 for the first one. A few are close. I could try one for 50.00 I think. Like to see exactly what it involves.
That's probably for the best, especially if you value having a driveable car.

The objective of the audit is to inspect three oil changes. Auditor is required to stay up to two hours to allow for three oil changes to occur. If three oil changes occur before the two-hour period has elapsed, the audit is complete when the third oil change inspection is complete.

Looks like they merged 2 threads as I titled mine the same.
So you have to observe 3 huh, 2 hours for 30 is a good bit low. Got nothing better to do tonight so I will see if I can pass the test. I can do the first one for 50.00 and see if they want to negotiate price.
If I have ever done anything for this company it was long ago. Guess I will worry about how they pay after I pass the test.

When I did them, for a different MSC, I believe, it was observe five oil changes, but it paid $75.
As mentioned, if the required five changes were done in less time, then you were finished. If you stayed for two hours (on a slow day) and they did less than five, you could leave and just report on any that they had done.
As someone said, I wouldn’t take that job for $30, even with only three changes required.

When I looked at the audits a few years ago, the inspector had to buy (and pay for) their own steel-toed safety shoes, plus other PPE (personal protective equipment). If you have never worn safety shoes, you will not like wearing them. If you HAVE worn safety shoes, you will not like wearing them. Hard pass for me. My days of eearing safety shoes are over.

My kids work boots fit-steel toed. Now they don't say steel toed. Can I assume all proper safety shoes are steel toed? I have to believe so.
I thought I saw something about a reimbursement for those as well. I thought I saw 60.00 reimbursement, quick search says more than 60.00 for shoes, but I am good at finding deals.. Other than that, safety glasses which I have.

Some safety shoes have composite safety toes made of Kevlar and other materials. They tend to be slightly larger in internal size (the toe box) and sometimes a little lighter. They are generally more expensive.
All safety shoes must meet the ASTM F2413 standard and must have a label certifying that. Not all safety shoes are non-slip. Not all work shoes or work boots meet the ASTM F2413 standard.

Thank you very much. I will have to see if they go into detail, all they reference is 'non slip shoes' once and 'non-slip safety shoes' once in 69 pages. I can see them wanting a shoe picture.
I don't remember what I did for them in the past, but I am seeing typical MSC stuff already. I thought I accepted a job on the website, got the app and it was still available. Accepted on the app and the app wants me to do the job specific training I just did.
Fired off a 'what's up' email.
The thing is, I like work of this nature. I am thinking in my area, Detroit Metro, these should have multiple bays and be busy. The Valvoline one by my house always is and they rob.
I don't see it taking 2 hours, guess I will find out.

In the wayback machine (I left my workboots back in CA) I only wore Wolverines. I had purchased some cheap work boots once, and they didn't hold up for even a few months. The company I worked for required us to have them, so they "reimbursed" $40 every year in March for the purchase of work boots. I only ever bought 2 pair of Wolverines, so I really made out in the end. I'm not sure if it was a union rule or a labor code law, but they were forced to pay for the shoes because we were required to wear them as part of the job.

I am seeing both 2412 and 2413 at wally world. About 45.00, look like regular modern sneakers.
Wonder what the difference is? Just an upgrade in the spec?

I have to do another "coaching" call next week. Looks like you do 1.5 hours or 2 customers and the rest, whatever comes first.
It will be worth the 50 for the first one, I will see if others are worth 30.00 after that.
I am done probably over a 1000 "audits" over the years. They have a dedicated app so that is a plus. Interested to see how it goes. If these can be an hour for 30.00, I will do the ones in my area.

Shoes are 25.00 for what they require. They will reimburse after a job is completed.
Interested to see if these shoes are any good. I did some stuff in Popeyes Chicken and it was a skating rink back there. Brand name is Tredsafe. They want a picture of the shoes and, of course, a receipt for reimbursement.
